VIN: WVWCAO5338KO21378 This Scirocco GTI has been my daily driver since 2007 and is just a joy to drive. The car has been in the San Francisco Bay Area since new. It was originally sold to the first owner in Sunnyvale California in August of 1981. The second Bay Area owner has owned it since April of 1996. I have gone to great lengths over the years to keep the drive-train components smoothly and accurately functioning, and besides the Bilstien Shock upgrade, with the goal of keeping everything as original to the factory specs as possible. This is one of the last MKI Sciroccos to leave Volkswagen’s German factory. This car came fully optioned from the factory. Front and rear sway bars, 5 speed, front spoiler, top of the line upholstery, A/C, etc.,. This is a, rust and accident free car that has been well taken care of since new. The odometer stopped has not worked since I have owned the car-However, the speedometer does work. The car odometer shows 174kk. It has received a high quality, bare metal repaint when I first got the car, in the original color which is very nice metallic blue. I have had professional paint shop touch-ups performed last year to keep things presentable. .The Scirocco came with a euro spec Scirocco GTI badge that is inaccurate, but cute.. The sheet metal underneath the paint is as it left the factory, no rust, accidents, or door panel fit/alignment issues. The engine is responsive and eager and in excellent tune. The 8V H head was rebuilt last summer. The Close Ratio 5 speed, LSD, clutch, linkage bushings, and oversize axels were just installed last month.. The tires are almost new Michelin Metrics and have 85%+ tread. The interior is in very nice original condition-However the headliner on both C Pillars around hatch are torn (see example pics).. The car has Carrello halogens (one has a stone chip but no harm to function), and a new exhaust system. There is a new dash cap installed. The side door panels are uncut The window crank on the driver side is not original and will need to be replaced. There is slight fogging around the original glass, rubber seals are good. I have sourced and had installed original Bosch Halogen fog lights. The rear wiper is not connected. The original steering wheel is missing the horn button. There are air horns on the car but not installed. The car comes with the original California blue plate. Upon starting, she fires right up and is eager with torque throughout the RPM range. The car was designed to be quite light, allowing for spirited performance from the 1.6L motor and properly mated close ration gear set. The drive is visceral and not quite to most normal passenger's liking. The the car feels like a little fighter plane. The car charges through all the gears in quite a lively manner, is eager when driven, and sounds great through all the gears. This Scirocco comes equipped with Bilstien Sport shocks in front and Bilstien Touring Shocks in the rear and Strut tie bar, The car was optioned with air-However the vent lever mechanism does not function.. I have another unit that will come with the car. The Radio does not function. In the last year we have replaced the fan, battery, brakes, major tune-ups, alternator (Bosch), starter, catalytic converter, anything that is mechanically required to keep this car fun, and on the road everyday. It is not perfect, and there are paint chips and scratches, the worst of which is a 3 inch scratch on the roof (see Pics). No Synthetic Oil is used in the motor. This car is sold as is, where is.
