Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1972 Porsche 911T coupe – non sunroof Chassis# 9112100526 Engine# 6133438 (7R case- the most desirable case for performance upgrades) I am an experienced Porsche owner (43 years) who purchased this car in 2007 thru my “hobby” dealership. I have made various improvements, building on those of the former owner, to make this a very good #3 driver, suitable for enthusiastic driving right now, and perfect for future upgrades to whatever level you want. Immediate needs are limited to a fresh set of tires, which I can provide to your preference at wholesale. The odometer is currently at 93K miles. The engine was rebuild several years ago at 72K by Ekstens Autohaus, Rochester, NY, a known Porsche racing shop with a very good record racing at Sebring and similar venues. Webers and Carrera chain tensioners were added at that time, replacing the MFI which I still have (and can provide for $tbd). The interior is very nice with original black and tan vinyl panels. Defects include a small, narrow dash crack (see dash photo) and the headliner has some stains in the usual places, quite acceptable for an older car. New Corbeau sport seats, new carpets and new retracting seatbelts are installed. The radio is junk but fills its hole nicely. There is a very good older white repaint of this former brown car, with no obvious paint defects. All panel gaps are even and the doors still “ping” when closed indicating no prior damage. Nothing rattles on the chassis – the car is still tight. There is essentially no corrosion, except for very light surface rust in a few places on the underside where undercoating has come free. A small spot on the door frame and two on the driver door do not hold a magnet, but are otherwise undetectable. I have gone over the car with a magnet and find no other spots of rust repair. The floor, door bottoms, jacking points, and front and rear torsion bar mounts are original and solid. The windshield has a light rub mark which I expect to polish out prior to delivery. The engine is very crisp, with instant revs up and down, and excellent leak down numbers. - #1-4% #2-5% #3-6% #4-5% #5-9% #6-5% Maintenance has resolved all issues due to an extended period of storage prior to my purchase. The carburetors were rebuilt with float levels reset and a pressure regulator added, plus a new fuel pump and filter installed in the smuggler’s box. The fuel system has been cleaned, including boiling out and lining the gas tank. An MSD 9602 ignition was installed with tach adapter and MSD coil, plus Magnacore competition plug wires. Valves were just recently adjusted, with oil and filter changed, valve covers flattened and silicone valve cover gaskets installed. The oil tank was removed, cleaned, and repaired due to a leak. The heat exchangers are excellent, but not currently hooked up for heat. The muffler is solid and un-rusted. A new Optimax battery with cut-off switch is installed. The brake master cylinder and all four brake calipers are recent rebuilds, with new stainless shielded flex lines installed. The wheels are replica 15x7 Fuchs. The tires look good but are old and should be replaced. The suspension is firm and very responsive to inputs - almost like something alive. The steering is light with no lost motion. Shifting is smooth and direct with no synchro grinds. I've driven the car several thousand miles (no track use) and have been delighted with the light feel of the car vs my ’83 SC daily driver. The appreciation potential is enormous as these cars can be as exciting to drive as a Ferrari, yet much more practical. They are starting to follow the spectacular rise in values the Porsche 356 series has already seen. I’m reducing my collection to a more sensible level (6 Porsches now), and offering this car to the best reasonable offer. At my small shop I have a highly qualified mechanic, a lift, and tools to assist you in evaluating this car. I can assist with shipping, but you are responsible for estimating your shipping cost. I can deliver (at tbd cost) if you are within 300 miles. The remainder of the sales price must be delivered and cleared before the car or documents will be released. The car comes with a transferable registration and dealer bill of sale. Titles were not used in New York State for cars this old.
