1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Click image for larger picture Car Location: South East Mass This is a beautiful 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, VIN 342570Z139841, with 110K miles. It has a non-original 455 V8 F block engine, TH400 transmission with floor shifter, and a non-posi rear end. The car passes Mass state inspection without issue, and has an inspection sticker from October 2010. The car drives great down the road and is truly a unique ride. I am listing this car for one of my friends, and the title in his name. Mechanically, the car is excellent, with great brakes (front disc), great sounding dual exhaust with trumpet tips, cooling and charging, all working properly. The car does not burn oil. The car never overheats and always starts. The car is driven regularly. This car was originally a V8 350 car and the 455 was put in a few years back. The 455 was originally in a 70k mile 1969 Olds, and it has W/Z exhaust manifolds, C heads, and an Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb. The engine has been driven about 10K miles in this car. The car idles smooth, starts nicely, and has plenty of power. Cosmetically, the car looks very nice and was last painted in the 2003. The paint has held up well and presents great. The panels look clean, even under the inside bottom door edge, and on the rear wheel well edges on the quarters . A repro W-25 hood was installed, along with a rear spoiler, rallye gauges, sport mirrors, and cutout rear bumper. 442 numerals were also installed. The car was originally a column shift bench seat car and it was converted to a floor shift bucket seat car. The interior had the front and rear seats recovered, and the carpet was replaced. The sport wheel is very nice, as is the shifter console and headliner. A Pioneer stereo with removable face plate is installed in a factory 8 track box. The interior lighting works in terms of the dome light when the doors open, and the dash lights light when the headlights are turned on. The undercarriage looks super clean and dry. Underneath, the exhaust appears to be mandrel bent and looks very solid. The exhaust runs quiet so you dont get a headache driving the car, or have difficulty with talking to others while riding. The fuel tank looks very new as well. As the car is 40 years old, there are some areas of wear. The repro W25 hood has some cracks/lines coming through the paint by the air inlets and turn latches, and the paint is wavy upon closer inspection, though it looks good from 10 to 20 feet. Also on the w25 hood, there is some rubbed off paint where the chrome trim is installed by the windshield edge. The clock on the tic-toc-tac does not work and likely needs some lubrication. The shifter linkage needs adjustment as when the car is shifted into park, it may not fully go into park and can slip out, so the ebrake should be used until the linkage arm is adjusted a bit downward on the armature. Likewise, when shifting the car into reverse, the shifter position is still near the bottom of park and when shifting into drive, the shifter position is near the bottom of nuetral. Adjusting the shifter linkage is about a ten minute adjustment, but it needs to be done. Also, on the driver seat bottom, when reclining the seat back, it looks like the seam was not stiched down so you can see the edge of the foam underneath the seat cover, and that is only when reclining the seat back, as shown in the pictures. Also the driver seat springs sit a *little* low (I have sat in far lower worn spring seats, these are not like that) as the springs were not changed in the seats when they were recovered. There are some extra holes in the package tray where speakers were mounted. It is unknown if the rear defrost option works, and AC does not work. The factory radio in the dash also does not work, but I think the speakers are not attached to it as they are going to the new radio in the 8 track player holder. Also, the backseat upper side trim is falling down where it should meet the headliner. The engine bay could benefit from some detailing, and some of the trunk floor spray could be touched up on the trunk floor under the mat. Also, the hood fastens down with the two hood pins securely but does not have a hood latch currently installed on the core support, or on the hood. Also, the map light on the rear view mirror does not work. Also, the paint does have a few minor imperfections, such as minor scratches, or scuffs, or minor touch ups, since it is about 7 years old. When opening the trunk, on the right side corner behind the rear wheel, you can see a repair was done on the lower corner, as pictured. The factory oil pressure gauge can be jumpy some times but reads pressure in normal range. The car also sometimes smells like there is a slight burning smell, and I think a little oil may be leaking from the oil plan that is burning on the exhaust. Also, the title on the car shows 109K miles, and the car was driven about 1000 miles by my friend after he purchased it. But as this car was converted from a column shift car to a floorshift car, the speedometer was changed from one for a column shift car to a floor shift car. In the process, the floor shift speedometer that was installed in the car shows less miles as the picture shows, and indicates 05738. Therefore, after the speedometer swap, the milage on the speedometer shows up a little lower than what is on the title. See the thumbnails below, or the slideshow for several pictures, which are categorized description. Please do not bid until you have read all the description, viewed all the pictures. This will allow you to be fully acquainted with the Cutlass. This car also is sold as is, without any warranty, stated or implied. If you are not 100% serious about buying this car, please do not bid! All questions should be asked before the bidding is over. Full payment is expected in seven days from the close of the auction. Vehicle released once check clears, which takes the bank about three days to confirm the funds are not fraudulent on out of state checks. No Nigerian scam artists - I know all your tricks, do not offer to send stupid payments of more than the car is selling for and ask for the change back, or to remit money to fake shipping companies. Don't waste your time. Even though this car is in excellent driving condition, and should be able to drive anywhere, I would suggest that this car be shipped/trailered, as it is 40 years old and anything can happen. Prospective, serious bidders are welcome to see and drive the car in person, and are asked to review the pictures and read all the information in the below thumbnails. The car is for sale locally, and if sold, the auction will be ended. Acceptable payment options are certified check or money order. Body - The paint is very presentable and the panels are clean. The car was painted about 7 years ago. Exterior features include repro W25 hood, rear spoiler, SS2 rims (15s on rear, 14s on front), sport mirrors, and rechomed bumpers with rear bumper having cutouts for dual exhaust. The w25 hood paint is wavy and you can see some cracks by the inlets coming through the paint, as is typical with these hoods. Interior - The interior is in very nice shape, with good carpet, recovered front and rear seat, sport wheel, rallye gauges, map light in rear view mirror (does not light up, may need bulb), and factory radio in place (does not work) and a Pioneer CD radio in an 8 track tape player housing. The car also has aftermarket speakers installed on the rear package tray. Headliner is in nice shape. The rear upper side trim has fallen down a bit. There are some aftermarket guages installed under the dash that work. There are also aftermarket speakers in the foot well trims. Engine Bay - The engine bay shows the F block 455 V8 engine, Edlebrok 1406 600cfm carb, C heads, and W/Z exhaust manifolds. It is very presentable, but could use some detailing and touch up for perfection. The engine was was driven about 70k miles in its original car, and about 10K miles in this car. Trunk Compartment - Trunk compartment is in nice solid condition. Some of the spatter paint is worn off and can be easily touched up. You can see on the left rear quarter corner behind the rear wheel there was a repair that looks good. There is no spare tire in the trunk but there is a spare tire cover and jack hardware. Undercarriage - Solid frame and floors in nice shape. The dual exhaust is in good shape that runs quiet. There is a little overspray on the bottom edges from when the body was painted.
