Vehicle Detail
Original (aside from tires, chain, spark plugs) 1971 Honda SL350 K1. I'm the third owner. I bought it from a childhood friend's Dad, who bought it in 1973, so I know the history. It was ridden a handful of times in the dirt, but mainly on the street - check out that vintage Ceat front tire! Rear is a period Dunlop Trials Universal. The good:Unobtanium mufflers have NO rust-through. Minor dents on the right, one small dent on the left. Scratches on both.No fading on the candy red surfaces, or the gauges, which is pretty unheard ofFront fender has a few scratches. Tank, side covers, and rear fender look great. There's a small ding in the left side of the tank - see pic.Always adult owned. Not thrashed or abused.Always garaged. Not ridden since 1995.On a California non-op, so if you live in CA, you can keep the blue plateEverything's there except the tool kit and tool box coverThe not-so-good:Gas wasn't drained when parked. Tank will need to be cleaned out. Carbs are stuck.Seat has been patched from the inside. See pic.Dent in speedo bezel. See pic.The PO was an award-winning design engineer for Peterbilt, so I gave him a ration when he told me he hadn't drained the gas; he knew better. He just shrugged his shoulders. He was close to 80, so I figured I'd cut him some slack ; ) As the cliche goes, it "ran when parked." Engine turns over freely, has good compression. I really wanted to restore this bike. I've done a number of 350s over the years, and this one has sentimental value to me, having ridden it a few times as a 13 year old, and knowing the background on it. But after three years in the garage, it's evident I'm not going to get around to it in the foreseeable future. If you're looking for one of these, this is a nice, original, unrestored example. Thanks for looking!
