Vehicle Detail

Here is my own personal 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet. I am not a dealer- this is my own car. I am a Porsche Club of America member and own several other Porsches as well as a number of other exotic cars. Please check the Blue Book value of this car- it is $39,417! Check around- a Red Over Tan Cabriolet with 6 speed (Many were "Tiptronic slushboxes" and UNDER FORTY THOUSAND MILES is a mid- $30K car. I have taken FIVE THOUSAND off the WHOLESALE of this car and not even included the value of the elaborate Kenwood sound system Nav Package!OK, now to the elephant in the room...The Autocheck report. As you can see this car shows a "Buyback" or "Lemon law" title. That is not true. Let me repeat that:This car has a clean title which I have in hand! The story that I discovered when I purchased the vehicle is as follows: The vehicle was traded in at an agreed-value because the original owner complained that the car leaked oil and the A/C was not working. I was told the original owner, a woman from Arizona, was coming from a Mercedes SL and the fact that the 996 series cars leak a bit of oil after spirited driving was completely unacceptable. After TWO new Rear Main Seals the dealer just threw up his hands and had Porsche NA subsidize taking the car back. The title was always clean and I hold a clean Massachusetts title in my name. This car has NEVER had mechanical or electrical issues, in fact I'd guess it's the most critically inspected 911 out there! To my knowledge the car is now on it's third rear Main Seal- the A/C works PERFECTLY, and the car has absolutely NO NEEDS: It is as close to perfect as a nine year old car can be mechanically. Oil Pressure is perfect, it runs cool in the Summer heat and provides great heat in the Autumn. The convertible top works perfectly, is nice and clean with a perfect rear window and the rear window heater works perfectly. I have replaced the window motor microswitches so the windows properly dip when the doors are opened (A common 996 issue). The oil was changed about 900 miles ago with Mobil 1, and the gearbox oil was replaced last year with Redline 75W90 and the gear changes are smooth as butter- even first thing in the morning. I replaced the awful OEM In-Window antenna with an amplified on-glass antenna, and now FM reception is much better. This car has never seen rain, salt or now since I have owned it, and being a California car it looks as though it has NEVER seen any rain or sunshine- it looks fresh and the interior smells nice and new! (Love that leather smell!) The current Rear Main Seal does leave a couple of drops of oil on the garage floor- Remember these are designed to keep the oil in at 7,000 RPM, not at 0 RPM, so they will "weep" just a bit as the car cools- that's just how they are. This car is better than most- but at some point when a clutch is due I would replace the RMS at that time- I park over a mat so I never notice. I think you could get into this car and drive it for YEARS with no issues whatsoever. As you can see from the images this is the ultimate 911- Guards Red over Tan. This is the full "Supple Leather" package so it's leather A PIllars and leather dash and every surface is leather. In addition this car has the optional embossed headrests and MOST importantly... It has the Tecnic Aero kit- which includes the rocker panel moldings and the fixed Aero Wing. I don't think you could option a car more in 2002- It even has the factory chromed Hollow spoke Turbo Twist wheels. The car is in wonderful condition. It is shiny and glossy thanks to a complete detailing I had done last year. This year the car has been professionally polished and shampooed, and the paint really gleams with a shine that is as good as a new car. The OEM Chrome wheels are stock Porsche- the good stuff. They are in good condition but each wheel does exhibit some degree of curb rash- I would imagine a wheel shop could polish these out to a perfect gleam- Other than the minor curb rash the body of the wheels and the chrome in general is in excellent shape. The leather is in excellent shape- with very little driver's side bolster wear. There is one small nick in the instrument cowl which I have pictured, and a few marks in the back seat area on either side from the day I transported my Ferrari Dino front windshield back from the glass shop. Besides lavishing all sorts of cosmetic care on this car- I have removed the awful stock CD player and had a $1300 Kenwood CD/DVD/Navigation system complete with Bluetooth and Ipod integration kit. This transforms the experience- Hop in the car and you have ALL of your music- Just hook your Ipod up to the two cables in the glove box and you have full control through the touch screen- You also can simply plug a USB Flash Drive into the usb cable and read music from a cheap SD card! Your phone syncs with the Bluetooth and the mic is installed right on the dash. Nav is the full Garmin Navigation package- perfect! It uses the stock Bose power amps, subwoofer and speakers- and it sounds incredible- even with the top down. The car comes complete with the original tool kit, all books and manual, one original Key, the factory removable wind deflector and the remote control for the Kenwood Nav system. Please look at the photos below. Retail is close to $40K, Wholesale is close to $34K. I was offered north of $32K for this car in trade at the Porsche dealer- but I have decided to purchase a different car privately, so I am selling it myself. I appreciate that the Autocheck report will concern some people, so I have priced this car very, VERY agressively. If you have a realistic offer please make it and I will consider it- If you can get to Westborough Massachusetts by all means come see and drive the car! I'll be happy to let you inspect it in my heated garage, and show you my other Porsches and Ferraris! If you would like to chat on the phone about the condition of the car please contact me with your phone # and I will call you.
