This is a good, solid car, which shows normal signs of its age and use by a responsible family. It continues to run well, but as our family has gotten older, we needed a new vehicle for everyone. The third row seat is a rare option, and makes this vehicle particularly convenient and flexible for transporting people or cargo, and is a great option for families. The third row seats fold up and stow to create a cargo area. The second row seats lay flat to create a larger cargo area. We are also including the roof-top cargo box with the appropriate mounting hardware. It is in good condition and has worked well, although one of the locks sticks due to it being slightly out of alignment. This car handles well, especially in inclement weather and wet or snowy driving conditions. It has traction control and anti-lock brakes. It has never stranded us in any sort of conditions. We were the second owners of the car, and purchased it through the Mercedes-Benz Starmark Certified Pre-Owned program (at that time, the mileage was 30,074). We have had the car serviced regularly according to its recommended maintenance schedule, generally with the Mercedes Dealership in midtown Manhattan. We promptly made repairs or replaced parts as needed. The car has never been in an accident. The body is in good shape, with no damage or bodywork repairs. The paint is in good shape, although signs of age are showing and there are a few small parking-lot-type scrapes. The paint on the bumpers has peeled in spots; you may want to repaint them. There is a crack on the front bumper (passenger side) resulting from a parking-lot scrape, and there is a slight crack on the passenger rearview mirror. These are cosmetic only and do not reflect structural damage to the car. (See the photos to view these areas.)The interior is in good shape, although it shows normal signs of its age and use. We are a non-smoking family, and no one has ever smoked in the car since we've owned it. The backs of the third-row seats have cracks from the storage of strollers in the cargo area; this is cosmetic only and does not affect their use. (See the photos.) There are some maintenance items that may require attention: 1.) Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall relating to the cruise control system of the car. We have the documents that we received in the mail that will explain the issue and allow you to arrange for repair at the dealership. 2.) The right rear brake light intermittently goes out. 3.) The front passenger interior dome light works, but does not come on automatically when the door opens. 4.) The middle-row seat which folds up to allow access to the third row is jammed, and is not opening properly. 5.) The odometer, at start-up, indicates that the next recommended service appointment will be due within 500 miles of driving. The car is being sold in as-is condition. We have endeavored to describe the condition of the car thoroughly and accurately, and have attached a number of photographs that will allow you to view the condition of the car. The car is in inspected and driveable condition; please do not ask us to provide false information on the title.On Nov-11-11 at 16:38:04 PST, seller added the following information: *********************** IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THIS AUCTION *********************** As we worked to clean the car for the winning bidder, we discovered that the carpets below the rubber floor mats were wet (in the driver's, passenger's and 2nd row passenger's footwells). This is not a problem we have ever had before, and we don't know where the water came from. We think it is most likely that it was caused by either condensation while the car was sitting unused over the last couple of months, or by a plugged drain hole that allowed water from recent storms to back up into the interior. However, it might have another cause. We are drying the carpets, but right now they have a musty smell. If the smell does not go away completely once they are dry, the buyer may want to have the carpet cleaned or replaced. We realize that this is a significant change from the original description, so if any bidders would prefer to retract their bid, we will allow it, or you may contact us to request that we cancel your bid. As noted in the original description, the car is being sold in as-is condition.
