Vehicle Detail
This is a very peachy, well maintained, second owner convertible in quite frankly, the only color one should consider when purchasing a vehicle of it's noble pedigree, RED. This was an Arizona car originally purchased by "Mike", who traded his 1957 Buick convertible in on it. Mike, it should be noted, must have been very popular at the dealer since the service records show such endearing notations as "brakes not up to Mike's standards" were written by the various service managers over the years. We purchased this little sweety in 2002 and have put about 3000 of it's 58,879 miles on it since then. Car has power steering, brakes, AM radio (rebuilt with an OEM speaker), the alloy wheels, radial tires with less then 5000 miles on them. Everything works and I have been ruthless regarding maintaining it. The only deviations from the build sheet are: solid state ignition,1966 factory 4 row radiator, factory 7 blade clutch fan, new style battery and crossover pipe to let the little guy runs as cool as he looks. Top is black. I am a recovering 1970 Chevelle correctophile , however, I am not very clever, so I stick to the factory parts and procedures as dictated by my using only the 1966 Buick assembly file with no "rigging" other then those things noted. The ride quality, fit, finish, absence of squeaks, groans, moans in comparison to my lower mileage L-78 Chevelle could keep a congressional quality committee busy for months, but I digress. I have changed the oil, heater hoses, anti-freeze, etc in the last week. THE SPARE HAS NEVER BEEN DOWN! The jack, you will note, also has orginal paint on it, way cool. It is a 2 barrel/300/310 ft. pounds of torgue which insures quick starts, trouble free operation, and the option to drive this car rather then spend your idle time painting the correct shade of gray on the shocks, tuning and addressing annoying service issues attached to lesser vehicles of the era relative of the more exotic and expensive "drivers". It is garaged stored and in the interest of true disclosure did get rained on once in July 4th of 2006 for about 10 minutes. Like the famous Harley commercial this car is getting sold for new windows for the domicile rather then the house siding in that commercial. It is "her" car and there are some other health reasons prompting this as well. I will gladly help facilitate both any inspection and shipping of this car. It will be sad to see these tail lights go down the street. The undercarriage is driver quality, everything else is in excellent condition to the best of my three years in third grade education will attest. I will NOT end the auction early, give out the reserve since my Ebay rating and integrity to not make a fast buck or to have my legions of loyal customers send nasty emails. I will not threaten you with reference to any local sale or right to end this auction early are non starters. Do your homework when buying this or any car on Ebay. Go to NADA, not Kelly Blue Book as it only goes back to 1991, and punch in the questions and arrive at a starting point, based on pictures, for the price range from Crummy to Excellent. The website will give you a retail price range from $2904 to $27000 based on 1966/Buick/Skylark/Convertable. It will also provide you with the standards used to determine the price of the car. Research the "eye candy" in the pictures, versus other un-restored low mileage vehicles and come to the same objective conclusion your bank does. This will give you, at least, an objective start and price range for the this vehicle that I used in setting the reserve. Eye candy, for example: engine paint, decals, hoses, air cleaners, alternators, engine bay, interior condition, the trunk (jacks are expensive) etc will reveal what type of decisions were made over the years as to adhering to a maintainence philosophy, not recent strategic placement of Armor All, Krylon Semi Gloss, and chrome jeegaws etc. If they cut corners, used non-factory parts look close, you can tell. I have lots of documents, owners manual, top manual, etc that will come with the car. I do not intend to drop the gas tank to find the build sheet since there were over 5000 of these guys produced which takes it out of tri-power 427 1967 Corvette, rarity scale, So none of time will be needed for research as to proper number 4 piston serial number's life consuming insanity. This can be witnessed at Pebble Beach Concours De Elagnace and other such gatherings. Note, howver that there currently about 1000 more registered, then produced, 67's tri-powers cruising on Route 66 then were produced in Kentucky that year. All of course are correct. Note my flawless Ebay rating as to my credibility in selling rusty/old/refurbished parts to the lunatic 58-70 Corvette, Z-28 Camaro and 1970 Chevelle correctophile fringe. Also note that this is a 45 year old car, but a really well preserved car in a George Hamilton sort of way. Successful Winning bidder must contact within 24 hours after the auction has ended to verify purchase and make arrangements to complete the transaction. Within (3) business days of the end of auction, full payment must be received either by bank to bank wire transfer, cashiers-check, approved bank draft, or certified funds. If funds are not received, and an alternate arrangement has not been made, the vehicle can and will be made available to other potential buyers on a first-come, first-serve basis. I have disclosed as much information as possible. I recommend the Buick be inspected BEFORE leaving my garage. Buyer will not be responsible for any eBay related fees and will be dismissed from any contractual obligation with eBay to purchase the vehicle if and only if inspection proves vastly different from published ad. Any items discovered I will make a reasonable attempt to repair. All shipping questions and/or concerns should be addressed directly with me or the shipping company you chose used to transport said vehicle. I will provide any assistance possible and make myself available on 24 hour notice to assist with loading the vehicle. Remember to call your insurance company! No Trades, end auction early entreaties, or requests for some mythical buy it now or what is the reserve. It is an auction. Accepted Forms of Payment I will accept bank to bank wire transfers, cashiers checks, certified funds, or verified drafts from known/approved financial institutions. Out-of-state buyers are responsible for their own taxes, registration, etc. in their own states. Checks will need 48 hours to clear prior to release of the vehicle to you or your agnet. Disclaimer This vehicle sold "as-is" and without warranty. The car comes with two master keys. This 1966 Buick comes with books and/or manuals as stated in the ad. * I made every effort to present information that is accurate. If you do not intend to purchase this item, DO NOT BID! NO TRADES ACCEPTED OR CONSIDERED! Unqualified Bidding, or any form of harassment can be subject to legal prosecution. I reserve the right to cancel bids and/or the auction only if the car is somehow damaged or destroyed. IF YOU HAVE ONLY NEGATIVE FEEDBACK OR BID RETRACTIONS, DO NOT BID ON OUR CAR On Nov-11-11 at 08:54:24 PST, seller added the following information: A soap opera update and trying to sell a car on EBay primer: All current bidders, I can forward you the additional close up pictures of the bumpers, trim, potmetal that I sent to Chris if you would like to aid with your decision. Just email me. Hi Chris, well I tried, I really did, used both settings close/far and still pictures turned out kinda crummy. Perhaps for the price I am selling a nice Hydudai would be in order. Take a look, I am stoopid and pexils challenged. Chrome/potmetal are anywhere from 7.5 to 9 on the subjective John O' Meter. Which is a scale that I veiw with terpetation on the Chris scale, or why isn't it 9.9752 on the 45 year old car scale? I have a touch of LYME's so it is difficult to polish trim right now, taking big horse pills and it is getting better. So pulling trim, sending to polisher, rechroming bumpers to your satisfaction is iffy at best. Car is well below reserve right now. I have had about a hundred emails asking me to jump through various hoops. Take an ice pick to floors, what is the tag number on the carb, brand of spare in trunk, and close up pictures of spare, jack, pull baseplate to take pictures of inner firewall, ohm meter on coil, get the picture? I have tried to be accomadating but experience has shown that 99.5% are looking for references or just bored and like to also send me back to the kitchen with the hashbrowns and make them more crispy... A check of many of thier recent purchases do not suggest any connection to the Buick car line. Yikes. So Chris, I spent a couple of hours portal to portal on this failed picture project and it looks like I have to buy a new, idiot proof camera, but not today. If you have any doubts, don't bid for both of our sakes. I hope you appreciate my candor, but at the end of the day people need to send an agent who can grind my gears for a few hours, with a super camera which of course will result in a no-bid in most cases under the scrutiny of the potential to sue the inspector. It is a nice driver which translates into imperfect in hundreds of ways. I bought my L78 Chevelle on Ebay in 2002, it caught fire (alternator) as we backed it off the trunk. Chrome was similair to Buicks in hindsight, paint etc. Car had 32M on it, spent tons restoring it, the Buick still is a better car and worth only 1/3 as much. If it had a 430, dual carbs, AMFM, console, tach, 4speed and was a Gran Sport it would be worth 35K but still not be a trailer queen. John
