Vehicle Detail
Hate to do it, and I know I'll get seller's remorse the instant my finger hits "submit" but once again I am facing a deal I can't afford to pass up, and the funds I need for it are a few months away. So here's my pride and joy.As you can see, it's not a 100 point garage queen, and if it was I'd have it at Barrett-Jackson with a reserve commensurate with the outrageous prices they've brought recently. Enough about what it isn't, here's what it is: 1969 matching numbers. 1969-70 are acknowledged as the two ultimate years in the T120R progression (before the imbeciles from Slumberglade mucked everything up). Dual LS front brake that works. Stopping power on demand, particularly if you take care to properly set it up (or let Vintage Brake in Sonora CA work their magic for you as they did on this one). And, unlike the 1968, the brake cable follows the fork tube, rather than looping around and looking dorky. Engine was rebuilt by an A&P mechanic, and it has NEVER given any trouble (except when the bracket for the Zener diode heat sink fractured, and two minutes with some duck tape had me back on the road). Plus, amaze your friends because this engine DOES NOT LEAK A DROP. Now, about the paint scheme: Any owner can spend time trying to perfectly match the scarlet "factory" paint scheme for this year by resort to the arcane arts of necromancy, but the honest fact is that the tank was painted with whatever red mix that ol' Nigel slopped together after his Friday wet lunch at the local. So my bike has been painted as an homage to the glories of Vincent and Velocette, plus the tail light housing, brake plate and a few other bits have been blacked as well. I love it, and it's personal this way. But if you really must change it back, it's not at all difficult. Other changes: The logos are not stock for 1969, rather they are a mix of the best looking script logos from 1967-8. I installed a full-flow oil filter right after the rebuild, and always change the oil every 1000 miles or so, so the engine should remain reliable for a long long time. The tires are Avon SuperVenoms, but are ready for a change (especially the rear). I was going to install AM26s, but have not as the new owner might with to return to a period look. Little stuff: Velocity stacks on the Amals. I have one pancake filer, but the other disappeared off beside the road somewhere while I was on a two day trip. I was going to re-do the fork seals and gaiters this winter, just on general principle, because I hauled it 800 miles strapped down on a trailer about two months ago. The handle bars are kind of skuzzy, but I was just about to replace them with some flat bars for more of a "Thruxton" look. The ammeter is stuck, and I was just about to open it up, unstick it, and then seal it up filled with mineral oil. The horn push/headlamp dimmer is aftermarket and rusty. Easy replacement. The brake light switch is fractured. Another easy replacement. The wheels are SS spoked, but the rims are chrome, not alloy, and the front needs some clean-up. Very small dimple on the LH headlamp ear as a result of a shipping ding; I was going to smooth it out when I replaced the fork seals. The seat could use some rubber frame pads and a bit of reinforcing at the pin bracket. LH side cover is in storage down south, but will be included. Clear title is also down south, but I'm heading that way in a week or so. If you're in Cali, it isn't currently registered, but I'll bring it up to date (won't cost me much, and the paperwork is already done). If I can think of anything else, I'll amend this listing.More pics are here:http://summerinmaine.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Triumph-Bonneville/13655757_5MgtCx#996887201_YUDuX Total of ~29.5K miles, and that's about 8K since the engine rebuild. I'm still riding her, so the mileage total will change slightly. At any event, I know I'll be buying another one in six months when my yacht comes in. Hell, I'd love to buy this one back from you in six months, and pay you 10% more than you paid me (but please please don't re-paint it if you want to take me up on the offer). And I'll sign a contract to that effect. So if you live somewhere in the Southwest, buy the bike, ride it all winter for free, and end up with a few extra bucks in your pocket next spring. And if you live in Coastal California, and use buy-it-now, I'll deliver it for free! Such a deal! The nitty-gritty: Shipping will be at Buyer's sole cost and sole responsibility for all arrangements. Buyer can arrange for crating at buyer's expense as well as shipping. I will not charge a separate handling fee. If you are in SoCal, I might be able to deliver by mid-November for the cost of my expenses, but that would need to be arranged separately, or if you use Buy-it-Now I'll cover all expenses except the trailer rental. Please read the listing and conditions of sale carefully before bidding. When you bid on this item, you are entering into a binding contract with the seller to buy and pay for this item. What you see and is described in this listing is what you get, nothing more. I do not sell and ship the bike on an approval basis, so please make sure that this is the bike you want and make sure it is in the condition you can use. Bike is sold in "as is" condition with no warranty or guarantee and sale is final with no returns or refunds, unless bike is seriously mis-described either here or in response to a question. If you have any questions, email via eBay and I will answer quickly (during west coast USA waking hours). Upon request, I will supply a phone number for more discussion. Please ask all questions before you bid so that there will not be any misunderstanding on the condition or description. If you are interested in this bike, bid on it and bid early. I may end the auction early, as the item is for sale locally and through other venues. I accept PayPal (for the deposit) for the buyer's convenience, or other secured payment (for deposit/full amount), but Buyer will be responsible for any PayPal (3%) or other money transfer fees. Absolutely no cashiers checks drawn on Nigerian banks or the like. Non-refundable (except as above) deposit of $1,000 will be required within 24 hours, or sale will be cancelled, bike will be re-listed and negative feedback may follow. Full payment in collected funds must be made within 72 hours from the end of the auction or the above-noted consequences will ensue. It will be shipped to the address on the buyer's PayPal account, or other address designated with payment. Time until shipment will depend entirely on arrangements made by the Buyer, once secure payment is received and is considered "collected funds" by my bank. The better the form of payment, like wire transfer, the faster the bike will be available for shipping. If eBay requires me to designate a shipping service, I offer no guarantee that the shipping cost calculation is accurate. I will work with an international buyer, but I'm not in a major metropolitan area, so the time until shipment will likely be somewhat longer. I apologize for all the conditions, but some eBay buyers just don't seem to "get it."
