Vehicle Detail

1969 Chevy impala SS?Please take a few minutes to read this listing before you bid.Thank you.The reason for the question mark is that we bought this car a few years ago now and not knowing if this was an SS car or a re-creation.Myself knowing quite a bit about cars, but by no means an expert, but when we purchased, these were the first things that stood out.Wheels are of course aftermarket. They are progressive wheels. Also the badges say 454 SS on the fenders.(first thing that came to mind,Big block!)But by doing some extensive research with cheverolet and some local dealerships I got this info.I have been told this. The car was made in canada.By the vin,it is a v8 car,it was in 1969 and of course now it has a 454 in it.There is no part of the vin# that tells you the car is an SS.Here is why.The chevy impala SS in earlier years was a seperate model line and could be identified by the vin#.But,by 1969 the Super sport was only an option on the impala model and not a seperate line.Because of this there is no way to tell.I was told by the 2nd owner that it had a 427,and this would be correct, because 454's were not in chevy's until 1970.But in 1969 that was the only motor chevy put in the impala SS cars. Also 3 different horsepower plants. The interior has definetley been redone at some point and is in fair condition only.(see pics)(I have the original console with the H handle auto shift.Cheverlot told me some things about the car.SS models had chrome wheel well moldings, the letters spelling out cheverlot on the front of the hood that are all metal(see pics)and the chrome rings in the center of the 6 taillights, and the blacked out grill. These things that are on my car according to chevy identify my car as a true SS car.Could all of this be cloned?Yeah but doubtful.I would have never known the things to look for if experts didn't tell me.If someone knows more, than I will glady update the listing as the auction goes on.Feel free to give me some input. They also told me this was the last model year for the impala SS until 1994.The car is blue now and was originally green. The body is solid and straight, but has been patched in a few spots and could use some refinishing, and after, some paint touch up.This is how we got it.Motor runs great and transmission are strong, car has new battery, the previous owner said the motor was rebuilt about ,20,000 miles ago,so when the car had about 70,000 or so.I do not know if this is the original motor.A 427 could be bored out to a 454,but what would be the point. It started hard if it sat,but i just put in a new fuel pump but it has a slow leak.(the carb line to the fuel pump)it has a 4 barell carb. with a B&M shifter/kit,flor tack, and dual exaust, and an excel ignition .The motor is sick and bad ass(see pics)someone in the past put alot into this.It even has flame grahics engraved in the valve covers.Inside, the dash has like like a wood type inlay with white and black 2 tone seats(buckets in front)The big white stripes look cool on the car but should be smoothed out(with a squee gee)whoever put them on left like some air bubbles in spots in them.it has a dent in the front drivers fender(see pics)All electrics work well, but when you apply brakes the flasher lights come on,on the dash.undercarrige nice and has a full frame, not a unibody.brakes seem to work well, and tires are fair.Big fat tires in the rear.it is not registered now or inspected, but was inspected and being driven in another state in 2010.Sticker still on windshield.Drivers door only opens from inside the car,the button needs to be fixed on the outside, but both doors close nice and solid. This is a desireable car,SS or not with a big block motor.is being sold with no reserve.it does need some TLC to be put back on road, but very little.please e-mail or call me with any questions before bidding. This is a final sale and will be sold as is,where is with a bill of sale and I have an older title to go with the car.i have an extra exaust and a few other parts to.buyer is responsible for shipping and pick-up.would be best to trailer or tow home,AAA? if your a member it may be free. You can call me at(207)363-4909,and feel free to stop by during the auction to have a look at the car if you are local.Buyer needs to contact me 48 hours after auction is over for payment and pick-up shipping methods.Thank you.On Nov-02-11 at 15:22:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to add that I found the original owners manual, and have put it into the glove box.bidders with little or no or 0 feedback, you need to call me first,(for payment method)before you bid,and I have the right not to sell you the car if feed back is 0 or low.Thank you.
