Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1972 Mustang Convertible that has been in a climate controlled storage for quite some time. This car is not perfect but is a GREAT foundation to make a very nice car. It has a 351C motor, 2 barrel carb, and has an automatic transmission. Approximately 1500 miles ago the car was brought out of storage and had an extensive inspection and work accomplished. I do have the list and receipts to go with the car, but here is a rough and dirty description. The brakes were all completely rebuilt including new rotors and calipers as well as wheel bearings. Several brake hoses replaced as needed. Transmission flush, service, and filter kit installed. The carburetor was rebuilt and adjusted, fuel filters replaced, and there were several fuel lines and radiator hoses replace. The battery was also replaced at that time. Since that service, a new heater core has been installed, and a new horn installed. The car then went back into storage and was driven VERY few miles til now. We got the car out of the storage, serviced all of the fluids, put fresh gas in it, and it started right up. Once the engine warmed up it sat there and idled pretty well. We drove it around for about :30 minutes and all went very well, so I took it out on the road and drove it to my home approximately 30 miles away. It could use a basic tune-up and maybe another carb cleaning from sitting. The POWER convertible top works perfectly and the car does have the boot to cover the top when down. The top it self is not perfect, but in pretty good shape, again a good detailing and you're good to go. The frame and body of the car are in VERY good shape. The original color of the car was blue, and was re-painted to the black color you see several years ago. The black paint is still in good shape but does have some light scratches and a couple door dings on the doors. There is one larger scratch on the right rear quarter panel and I have attached a picture so you can see it. The chrome on the car is in good shape, needs some polishing to get it back to the nice shine. The front bumper was painted black for some reason, not sure why. A new Chrome bumper for this car is $120.00. The interior is "ok" but quite dated and needs updated. There are Recaro bucket seats in the car that are in good shape, maybe just seat covers to hide that 80's sports car look. The carpet and dash are in good condition, the dash needs a solid cleaning and detailing. The rear seat has been removed from the car and an attempt at a custom deck housing the rear speakers was installed. (Tacky for a classic Mustang) That thing will have to go and either a seat put back in the car or a better job of customization. I priced a new back seat and it was $150.00, maybe one can be found on EBAY or Craigslist even cheaper ?? The stereo is nothing special, depending on the buyer and how much they like their music, you will probably want to replace it sometime. The exhaust system looks pretty good but I think it has a slight leak on the right side, the car isn't loud so it may just be an exhaust pipe joint that is loose. The tires and wheels are very nice and newer with not many miles on them. The odometer reads 31,500 but that would surprised me given its age, Since I don't know for sure, I will assume 131,500 so that I don't mis-lead anyone.. I don't want the car to sound like a wreck because its not, I'm just trying to describe the car as accurately as possible so that you know what you are bidding on. This car actually has the foundation and potential to be a great early 70's classic. Along with the actual photos of the car I am going to attach a picture of a 1972 Mustang Convert with a "Cobra" customization done. I purchased this car with the intention of doing this same thing but have been very busy and don't know if I will have the time to do it. Please look at other 71-72-73 Mustang Convertibles to get a good idea of whats out there and their prices. I believe this car is priced well, it can be a great daily driver and potential show car for someone wanting a car to tinker with. On Nov-01-11 at 02:11:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello All, I just want to add a quick comment and ask that I NOT be requested to end the auction early and sell the car for a price over the current bid. I did have the car for sale locally and would have ended the aucion early up until the LOW Reserve price was reached. At this point I feel it would not be fair to the bidders and the 71 "watchers" of the the Aucton. I feel the RIGHT thing to do is let the Action run out and give everyone interested the chance to participate in the Auction as we come to the end. I would also like to Thank everyone for the comments and questions during this Auction, I had no idea how popular these cars are, and how many people would be interested in the car. Good Luck !!! Mark
