Vehicle Detail
Hello, I will be adding all pertinent details about the vehicle later on today. On Oct-21-11 at 10:22:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is my story: After selling my 1961 Cadillac Series 62 convertible, I started looking for a cool and unique cruiser. I needed it to have four doors so that, my 51/2 years old daughter and I could go cruising or drive to local shows. Just like the Cadillac, I wanted this vehicle to be a "father and daughter" project. I am a big fan of mid century modern design and culture. Therefore, I wanted to purchase a vehicle from that era. After looking at typical Buicks, Chevys, Fords and Plymouths, I stumbled upon this beauty on Craigslist. I Google'd 1963 Chrysler Imperial and needless to say, the rest is history. An older gentleman from Pico Rivera, CA had this vehicle advertised for sale on Craigslist. I chose to give him a call and eventually went over to look at the vehicle a few days later. Once I arrived at his home, I WAS SHOCKED!!! This man had a 1970 Charger, a 1969 Challenger RT, few Coronets and this Imperial stashed away in his back yard. He showed me the Imperial and instantly, I fell in love. He told me that, he had no intention of selling this vehicle except, his wife was running for the City Council of Pico Rivera and, about had it with all his "FINE" automobiles. She wanted every vehicle out of the back yard including the RT. I never saw a man control his temper like he did. As I checked out the Imperial it became apparent to me that, she was well taken care of. If I were rating it between 1 and 10, 10 being absolute mint, in MY opinion, she is a 61/2. In other words, she is NOT the hottest or the prettiest but, she is sexy and smart and I can definitely live with her. SHE IS A RUNNING RESTORATION PROJECT. Despite being almost a 50 year old American peace of history, she still proudly shows off her heritage, uniqueness and quality of manufacturing with great pride and she is a head turner! I could not believe how much attention she gets every time I drive her. From the gas station, red lights to the grocery store and car shows, people are always buzzing over her and asking all kinds of questions. I LOVE IT! I am neither a mechanic nor an expert in talking about all kinds of mechanical aspects of the vehicle. If something went wrong, I would usually take her to local mechanics. The paragraph below will give you an idea what is the current state of the vehicle. As I stated earlier, she is a RUNNING RESTORATION PROJECT. The engine is powerful and strong and pulls with solid growl and the transmission is also solid and shift accurately. However, complete tune up, oil change would be required fro both. I already put a set of new spark plug cables. The radiator works fine and does not overheat the car at all. The power steering however stopped working recently as I was maneuvering my way out of the driveway. As I added more power steering, I noticed that, the oil was coming out of the bottom directly under the reservoir. I assume it is a hose that need replacing but, I could be wrong. She also starts up right of way so; I know the starter is also solid. The headlights, turn signals and parking lights are all in great working condition except, for the rear right. It’s a rogue one and seem like the old man had his way with it before or it may be just an electrical issue. The brakes are excellent but, needs to be bleed out. Sometimes, two pumps are required for the brakes to engage. The body is solid and every trim is there. NOTHING is missing. However, she had succumbed to tiny little rust spot at the bottom of both doors. I was also told that, Imperial’s drainage causes the rust. The repaint is OK and she may need a fresh coat soon. All the glasses are in excellent condition! The interior is what blows me away every time! From the cool oval steering wheel to the clean space age dashboard, she appears to have been stored inside for decades. The interior is very clean. However, the panelescent cluster does not work and although, the window motors response to the switches, the windows do not do up and down. I was told it’s an easy fix by the local upholstery guy. The trunk is enough for 3 bodies (hopefully alive) and a dog. IT’S HUGH!! It also contains the ORIGINAL tube tire. It appears as to have never touched the ground. Now here is why I never let my friends borrow my cars. My good buddy took for a drive and ended up loosing the keys. So, I just bought a key cylinder yesterday and will attempt to have it replaced this weekend. Needless to say, the trunk will still need keying. BTW, it came with a pair of bootleg “GUN SIGHT” taillights look alike which, I thought looked cool. Thus, I took the pictures with them just sitting on the rear quarter panels. They are NOT a part of the vehicle yet! Why am I getting rid of her? One reason only…. I fell in love with another and she is sexier, younger and smarter. That’s why. I am getting a 1962.That’s all for now, I will keep on adding as the auction proceeds On Oct-21-11 at 13:29:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I apologize for the previous font color.
