Vehicle Detail

Titled in PA, built in 1980. The car was acquired from family in an estate settlement, has always been garaged and is in very nice shape overall but we have no interest in reconditioning.Owned by one of our parents, he loved the car and upon his passing it was given to my wife. Although we are both fond of the car and would rather keep it ourselves, we do not have the talent to give the time and TLC needed to really make it shine. No problem if you want to turn it into a 'Rod", he would have loved that and we just want to see it go to someone who can appreciate the car.In really nice shape but certainly not pristine so please ask for specific pictures or information before bidding as this is an "as is" auction.I have offered below what little we do know having had the car for a little over a year.We do want you to be happy but not being "car people" cannot tell what you may need to know so please ask!Upholstery is in great shapeThe folding soft-top and side curtains are in good-average but useable condition. The car has 7,226 miles on the odometer. All lights work, wipers, heater work.New battery."A-oogah" horn.Jack included.Trunk needs one of the the straps replaced.4 extra sets wheels if you want them. Overall very nice appearance with cream yellow paint in good condition and chrome reasonable as well.Rusty spots here and there, probably not much work for an experienced person, but I want to be very open with the description so there are no misunderstandings. The car starts poorly and requires several shots of starter fluid but does run and we have driven it about so I can say it is not difficult to shift and runs well.Minor oil leak under front. Our mechanic could not detect it but I have seen it after the car sits for a while. It has always been garaged and in later years was started and driven annually (dealer's license so it does not have a current inspection sticker). Will have to be towed or moved with a flat bed, I do not consider it safely drivable for any distance until the tires have been replaced.Buyer must make arrangements for pick up.It does have a current PA tag and Title. Will add more information to description if I learn more. I am using the following information from another ebayer's listing and assume it is accurate for this vehicle but cannot promise it's accuracy: This car is a 1929 Shay Model A Roadster replica built in 1979-1980 (titled as 1980). It is not a kit car and was a 50th year anniversary tribute to the original 1929 Model A. Harry Shay, a GM engineer, contracted with Ford to supply a Ford Pinto 4-cylinder, manual transmission, Ford rear end for the drive train. The custom steel frame supports a fiberglass body and fenders with a rumble seat and painted steel cowl hood. The car has a folding soft-top with side curtains. These cars also have non-power front disc and rear drum 4-bolt brakes, non-power rack and pinion steering, floor-mounted pull-up emergency brake and front coil and rear leaf spring suspension. On Oct-22-11 at 10:54:55 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL NOTES ADDED ON SATURDAY 10/22/2011: As said above, we want to be very clear on the condition on the vehicle so please read ALL the information provided in the descriptions before bidding. The sale will be final and I do not want you to be disappointed. First, a big thank you to a fellow ebayer who told me this is the Deluxe model with single fender mounted spare and pointed to the following website with a lot of additional information, www.shayhistory.com. Only problem is now that I know more it has become even more difficult to part with the car, but it is time to make room for our main car in the garage! Thank you again my friend. Another ebayer asked about the extra wheels so I pulled them onto the driveway and have added a picture to the listing. They are not the same as the wheels on the car itself and would need restorative work, however as said above, you are welcome to have them if you wish. There are actually a total of 5, one w/o the center cap. Also was asked if the rusty spots were surface rust and if the frame was rusted out. Again, keeping in mind that I am not a car guy, from what I can tell it is surface rust but held my camera under the car and took a few shots of the frame which again have now been added to this listing. The rusty spots on the body are in various places particularly at the hinged part of the cowl and areas of the press fit chrome trim strips. Judging by the bidding so far, this does not seem to be a concern so I guess you guys know wht you are looking for!
