Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1987 Pontiac Firebird. Except....this isn't an ordinary Firebird. This car was built by a professional drag car builder. Has only been down the strip once. The previous owner died in a motorcycle accident 4 years ago and has been in storage since. The widow has finally decided she wants to sell this car and get it out of her life. I am selling it for her. She knows little about the vehicle and who helped build it. But the following includes all the facts we DO know about this car from those involved with the build and what paperwork we were able to find. Please look at the pictures closely. I have over 70 photos and video of this car running and driving in its current state. Please don't hesitate to email me if you would like to see more photos or video. As, I said this car has been in storage for the last 4 years. Because of that, and what this car is, it could probably use a tune up. It fires right up and you could literally, buy it today and take it to the strip tomorrow. Because of sitting though, it blows a little bit of smoke when first starting and like any typical big block, this car is cold blooded and it really needs to idle for a few minutes before it levels out and is ready to run. The body on this car is good. Being in storage for the last few years, it only has some light surface rust on the underside of this car, undersides of doors too. But this car is very solid and ready to be driven as it is. There are a few dings in the hood and a couple scratches over the body of the car, but this is a race car, and that sort of wear and tear is to be expected. Here is what we know about the build of this car... 427ci Big Block Chevy engine, putting out appx 500 horsepower. MSD Ignition Tunnel Ram intake with 2 1850 van secondary Holley Carburators. 400 Turbo Transmission with 3500 stall converter Ford 9'' rear end 4 link rear suspension with coil over shocks and wheelie bars 10 gallon fuel cell Holley electric fuel pump Line Lock Hurst Quarter Stick shifter t-Tops Autometer guages Full Roll Cage The only time it was down the track it was a run time of 10:50 in a quarter mile. Thats 10.5 seconds. Before this car gets ran hard again, after sitting it should have the carbs tuned up and valve train gone over. But anybody looking at drag cars, probably knows all of that. Tires on this car look to have good tread on them, but from sitting, they are probably only going to be good for a few more decent runs and will need warmed up properly before hand. Interior wise, this car is in good shape. Rear has been tubbed for the Hoosier racing tires and the front seats were traded out for racing style harness seats. The car does have hook-ups for A/C, cruise control, etc but none of that is currently hooked up. Car aslo has a working aftermarket CD stereo system. If you are looking for a built drag car that you can take to the track without any modifications, then this is it! With all the parts that this car has in its engine, transmission, driveline, rear end, wheels and tires and roll cage, it would cost at least $30,000 to build this car today. Seller is very motivated to get this car gone. So please feel free to ask any questions and make any reasonable offers. If you need help with shipping, I know a few people in the business and can see what I can do to help, but please try to arrange your own shipping or arrange for local pickup. Also, please have your finances in order before bidding. Bidders with 0 feedback scores, please contact me prior to bidding, otherwise your bid will be cancelled. Good luck in the auction and happy bidding.
