Vehicle Detail
None of the eternal X11 questions for this car. As some might not know an x11 could have been a 6 cylinder car so there is no way to tell its an SS unless you have original engine and such. Not so with an x55 car. This could have only been an ss 350 without the style trim group which is what separated it on the line. Also, 95% of the Camaro's today have the spoiler(because it looks so good) when in reality only 10% of the 69 Camaro's actually came with them, D80 signifies that this car had the spoilers from the factory, rear spoiler and deck lid are original and spoiler still has the name of the original dealer stenciled into it(Barnes Chevrolet), not to mention the car is an original hugger orange with a black vinyl top with deluxe houndstooth interior to boot. I have had the car for a couple of years and have tried to decide what to do with it. I am into the pro touring thing and wasn't ever sure if I should do that to this car so I will let the next owner decide. The car has had a lot of metal work done to it and is ready to begin block sanding to get it to the level you want it. I will list all the metal work and how I had it done. 1. Full quarters installed, welded at the original factory locations. 2. Trunk pan installed, finished underneath and top so there are no seams and you cannot tell where the pan was welded in. 3. Original trunk lid and spoiler 4. Original passenger door and new drivers door shell 5. One piece floor installed(only really needed front pan and passengers rear but I didn't want any seams underneath, looks perfect!! 6. NOS drivers fender and repo passengers fender, both fit great 7. Original GM Cowl hood 8. Original upper and lower front valance Underneath is finished in the original GM satin black and is done and doesn't need anything. Engine is a stong running V8 that is not original to the car(I would say 325hp), tranny is a smooth shifting 350(not sure if original or not). Seats are in very good condition and unless you're going into serious show competition I would keep them the way they are, they need head rest though. I also have and new set of cherrywood dash, ash tray and glovebox that come with the car, they look great. New rear window moldings and original vinyl top moldings, roof rail moldings, and other misc stuff also come with the car. Glass is present in the doors and quarters but wasn't going to get windshield or rear window until I decided if I was going with the vinyl top again. Left areas where the vinyl top studs are in the roof so I could reference them again, if you don't want the vinyl top you can simply fill them in, they are only on the roof since on 69's it's difficult to know where they go if they're not there. Car is just pretty much put together for transport for the new owner, a lot of different bolts holding stuff together and things like that. Sheet metal is pretty dialed in and is on the car(not just barely hanging). Car will be a really good car for someone to come in and finish as the hardest and most expensive stuff to do is done. I'm sad I'm not finishing the car but it's time to move on. As with all my auctions, No Reserve so the high bid gets it. Thanks for looking On Oct-10-11 at 05:49:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Just to answer a couple of questions and some stuff I forgot to mention. The car also has power steering, a new gas tank and sending unit, new body bushings, new taillights(inner and outer) and a march pulley set up. It will need some polishing to bring back it's luster but it is the one that uses the fat belts(not serpentine). There is no rust on the car. You will not get into this car like so many others and start finding hidden rust, it has been removed the right way and is ready for blocking and paint. Also, yes that is the original steering wheel with the SS on the horn pad, tach and speedo are also original, original engine harness and underdash harness have the tach leads. Thanks for all the questions,On Oct-11-11 at 15:49:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Have had several requests for some pictures of the bottom. These two should tell the story. Exhaust is flowmaster mufflers connected to factory pipes. On Oct-14-11 at 13:43:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had someone question the authenticity of this car because it doesn't have disc brakes or a 12 bolt. People, this car was raced most of it's life and was hung out to dry with a rolling 10 bolt on it. Who knows where this car has been for the last 35+ years, this car is an x55 SS. It has the original grill, trunk spoiler, tach, it has the wires for the console gauges that are cut but they are all still there. I also have the original door stick(the blue one on the drivers door) that still has the last six digits of the vin on it and the production date is 10/69 witch is consistant with the 09E(5th week of September) trim tag date. It comes with the car, its in a plastic bag. I will be happy to send the rusted out drivers door with the car with the rest of the sticker on it, by the way the door is still hugger orange. Also, yes the car runs and lot drives, so you can load it on a trailer. It has a new Mallory dist, new coil and aluminum water pump. Please if you don't feel comfortable with this car don't bid, but don't email me and tell me I'm misrepresting this car, I would think my feedback would say something.
