Vehicle Detail
This is a Model A chassis, engine/transmission and pick-up bed with a Model T roadster body. It is a project vehicle but a good starting point mechanically, probably more challenging for the body work. Reserve is based only on the chassis, engine/transmission. Frame has been cleaned and painted with chassis black; hydraulic brake hubs adapted but not fitted to master cylinder; engine and transmission are reported to have been rebuilt, or so I was told and I believed them but can not verify it, engine turns over freely and has good compression, so I think it should be fine. I have always kept oil in the cylinders for protection of the cylinder walls and pistons. It has carburetor, starter motor, distributer, generator, water pump – so it is a pretty complete package to get running. The pick-up bed is Model T/A not sure if they are different. It has some good and some bad features. Good news the side panels are very sound and could be readily restored with some sandblasting and minor metal work, unless you want a rat rod like I did,- then the are fine as is. The tailgate and the front panel need some help, but again are fine for a rat rod or if you prefer, reproduction members are available for about $200 each member. A complete new replacement bed will cost at least $2,000 from Macs Auto or other supplier. The body is from something like a 1924 touring, it is the front seat portion which provide some leg room. It now has an aluminum firewall to adapt it to the Model A frame, but if someone wants it for a Model T, I have the original firewall. Also have the original Model T windshield, not installed, see picture. I bought the chassis, engine and transmission from a rodder about 12 years ago. He had converted it to hydraulic brakes. It did not have a body so I found the Model T body thinking it was the best of two worlds – the Model A for power and reliability and the Model T for style. Located in Seattle. No title or registration, Bill of Sale only. I can store it for a month or so if I have the deposit. Reserve is $1,200.
