Vehicle Detail
Need a winter car project: I have a hard to find 1965 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible - 428 4 barrel. (Engine not original to car.) The engine was refreshed before it was installed in the car, engine is considered to be HD due to four bolt mains, large windage tray in oil pan. The heads are stock 1968 d-port with 2.11 exhaust and 1.75 intake valves. Car has factory A/C, automatic, and power steering, and power brakes, power windows, original am radio, bench seats. The ignition was changed to HEI. The tires are 30 years old and somewhat dry-rotted and still up but not safe to drive on. Has a new black top, and new top motor installed in the mid 90's. Car was painted 25 years ago and has been garage kept but does have a few minor scrapes on front fenders and a couple of minor nicks and scratches, it has never been buffed out. The interior is original except for front and rear seats being re-covered. New carpet in the mid 90's was installed, however door panels weren't done, due to the passing of the installer. The mileage is actual to the best of my knowledge. I bought the car from its second or third owner. Original glass. Gauges all work except the dash clock. The speedometer sticks on 30 MPH when sitting still but have another speedometer head to replace it with, which is included in the sale. After driving for a while, it begins to work properly. Frame is not cracked or broken. Under carriage has some surface rust from non-use. The dash pad is cracked. The steering wheel is cracked. The chrome is in good condition but has some pitting. If you remove the back seat bottom, there are two rust holes under the seat, one on each side but very repairable. The suspension is original except for rear air shocks. Never driven in the rain since I have owned it. I have a spare speedometer head, wiper motor, several stock hubcaps, and several brake drums, all included in the sale. There seems not to be many that has survived over the years. This car was a weekend driver, and that was seldom. Not a show car, although it wouldn’t take much to make it one with the right owner. I am selling because I no longer can afford to keep it and need the money.
