Vehicle Detail
Red 1984 Datsun 300ZX Turbo Coupe, produced on the cusp of their transition to using Nissan as the permanent global trade name and there are no Datsun emblems on it. This Z is in super shape inside and out! All it needs as far as I can see are two new rear tires, the A/C recharged, and the two helper/lift struts that assist raising the hood, there is also a main power kill switch installed to prevent draining the battery. It's an automatic transmission, has removable t-roof, a factory security system, switchable overdrive, power mirrors/locks/steering/windows/brakes/voice alerts. It goes down the road nice and straight, doesn't pull when braking. Hardly cold-blooded enough to mention. Given a modest warm-up it runs out great. The turbo spools up with authority and pulls very well. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and holds in the proper gear when calling for an extra pony or two. When you put your foot right into it, it downshifts smoothly the way it should, spools up, and it leaps. Holds in lower gear till about 4200-4300 RPM and shifts smoothly back up, gaining more and holding to shift again until reaching overdrive (which of course has to be switched on with the "rocker" switch which is mounted just to the left of the center console shifter). It is QUICK. When you call for extra passing power this car delivers plenty. Sprinting from 25 to 100 mph is an adrenaline rush, though I've yet to actually time it.. It runs cool as a cuke doing 85mph over La Veta Pass on route 160. It's stereo sounds great, an aftermarket CD player with remote. It has a new alternator (dealer installed), and the belts and hoses are all new/newer. The car has clearly been maintained carefully and looked after. The original suspension featured a 3 way switch to adjust the firm-ness of the shocks, the previous owner opted to replace those when the time came with good quality, non-switchable shocks. They seem fine, not jarring or harsh but not soft as to compromise handling or road feel, after the shocks and the stereo- everything else is bone stock . Very nice condition inside and out. The seats and carpet show no tears or stains and are not excessively worn, door panels, headliner, all interior trim, rear interior panels and all glass in super shape as well. The dash is not cracked. All of the gauges work including the clock, turbo boost and oil temperature sensor (the turbo model displays oil temp in addition to engine temp). It has been repainted it's original color and the exterior waxes up very nicely indeed. The pictures are OK but they don't do it justice. Some very minor rust bubbling through the paint where the front roof pillars meet the windshild. Right in front of the side view mirrors- probably the more simple way to describe the rusting spot. Also a small amount bubbling along the upper arc of the rear wheel well on the passenger side. You need to look real close to notice it.. Just stuff a person would probably address to get the car show ready,, There is hardly so much as a scratch, a single door ding or dent to be found, it turns heads just fine as is.. The removable T-roof is a great feature whether you're cruising the strip downtown or catching rays shooting through turns in a mountain pass. It feels nice and tight in turns, and drives like it's on rails. The door on the drivers side sticks a bit, but only when exiting- suspect it could be loose linkage under the door skin connecting the interior release to the latch itself, otherwise it would also stick when using the exterior release/door handle. The driver's side armrest needs minor attention, and the center console armrest shows minor wear. The car is located roughly half way between Albuquerque and Denver in Colorado's San Luis Valley. May negotiate nominal delivery charge to your door for prospective buyers/bidders anywhere in the general region. Well maintained, adult owned, looks great, runs very well, fun to drive and becoming increasingly rare. See photos. No warranty remaining so sale is "as-is, where is"- though I wouldn't hesitate to depart cross country in it tomorrow. Thanks for looking! ,, P.S. the first attempts to make this auction live were rejected by one of Ebay's filters regarding the VIN number. After discussing the issue with Ebay representatives, we concluded to finalize the listing with an erroneous VIN number, and to detail the issue here in the vehicle description. That is why there is not a vehicle history summary available where it would usually be linked near the top of the page. I apologise on Ebay's behalf for this inconvenience. The VIN number for this 1984 300ZX Turbo is JN1CZ14S2EX070597. Any other questions please inquire here or phone 719-657-0507. Thanks again, Curt
