Vehicle Detail
1989 Chevy Suburban Silverado 1500 350 motor Throttle Body 400 automatic transmission, power windows, power locks, tilt steering, factory rims. It's in decent condition inside pretty good for age outside some dings and atypical rust. It'll need tires and windshield to pass inspection. It'll need a battery or I can jump start it for the winner. The headliner fell but I kept the headboard for a refit. It had a new muffler system, new paint, rebuilt engine and transmission when I bought it in 2000. I relay didn't put a lot of miles on it used it for a work truck when I installed tile. I never towed with it. I put Monroe shocks all around, new front pads, it has recent fluid changes including transmission, transfer case, rear axle, oil, coolant. The side window motors are slow but work as does the rear window. The R12 a/c will need a charge or a retrofit. This Chevy has started whenever I've asked it to and the engine runs smooth and strong. I'd like to get it out of the yard before the winter so I feel the bidding is fair starting at this price. Please email me with questions or if you'd like to see the car in person. On Sep-25-11 at 17:24:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Truck is located in Westtown, NY On Oct-01-11 at 10:05:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I've gotten a few inquiries about the drive train, transmission, hubs, etc. It's listed as a 4X4 and as such, it works. I never mentioned the drive train in the above listing because it's listed here as a Chevy Suburban Silverado 1500 4X4 and you can assume it means it works. I'm not as knowledgable as a trained truck mechanic would be, which is why I suggested anyone interested should see the car in person, look it over have your guy check it out and decide the maximum amount they feel it is worth. come look at it if you want to before you bid to win. I'm home all day Saturday 10/1 and Sunday 10/2. I can say the truck runs fine and I've never had issues with the drive line, the fluids are clean and I've never experienced slipping. Regarding rust, I can really say is Chevy's are known for rust in the atypical areas such as along the lower rocker panel area, the bottoms of the doors, etc., such as in this picture. There may be more rust than is shown in these pictures, but I haven't crawled under the truck in some time. One eBayer asked whether any rust is affecting the integrity of the truck and I couldn't really answer it, either. Again, I'm not a body or frame mechanic, so you might want to see the truck in person and decide if the rust is not of your liking. Another eBayer sent three different inquiries. He/she was apparently not knowledgable about eBay wanted to know why every time he bid it jumped up a notch, thinking I was trying to cheat him into paying more and more. That is ludicrous but I guess he/she thought something was up. I had to explain to him how the eBay process works (see below). Yet another potential bidder thought that by winning the final bid he/she would have the option of buying it or turning it down. That's not the case with eBay: the final bid is the winner and the truck is sold to that person, as is. Again, come look at it if you want to before you bid to win I'm home all day Saturday 10/1 and Sunday 10/2. I will provide the winner with the title and a bill of sale for your local Dept of Motor Vehicles to register it, but I can't nickle and dime dings, dents or rust. In other words, if you win, I ask that you do not expect any discounts once you come to pick up the truck as I'm asking you to come and see it before you bid. Also, the down payment is $50 via PayPal. If you choose to pay via PayPal for the remainder please note that fees may be incurred by both of us for that service and I'd rather neither of us incur any other expenses other than my listing fee. Check with PayPal before you bid to win. You may be better off getting a bank check. I will accept cash upon delivery, but if you want to pay via personal check, please email me about it before you bid as we'll have wait for it to clear. On Oct-01-11 at 15:39:37 PDT, seller added the following information: REGARDING FRAUD: PLEASE, let's work together to be sure neither of us gets stiffed. I'm not trying to be anal, but there are a ton of scammers out there and eBay is one of their favorite spots to scam people. The following psycho-babble is just to inform the scammers that it won't work here with this truck, so they do not try to get possession of the truck claiming they are you, the winning bidder. Upon winning the truck, I'll send you my email address and you can send me yours. I will email you a scanned black and white copy of the title so you can be sure there are no lien holders, that the title exists in hand and is legitament. You in return will email me a scanned copy of winning bidders driver's license with photo. If you have no scanner, I can always scan it here at my house when you pick up the truck, but NYS law requires that I only sell the car to a licensed operator. Also - and you may not know this - but PayPal will only cover both of us if we scan/trade/email the title/license documents ahead of time. This is not widely known by eBayers but it is true; PayPal, of course, won't tell you this until you've been scammed. This is so no jihadist or fundamentalist tries to pick up the truck claiming they are you. I can turn them away because I have your smiling photo ID. When we meet to finalize the sale, your information will appear on the bill of sale that I will prepared ahead of time. If you need anything Notarized for your motor vehicle department, bring it when you pick up the truck as I am a Notary and will do it for you for free! After payment and in person, you will be given the truck's title with your information written on the back, the mileage and my signature. If you're going the bank check route, I prefer that you wire the balance through your bank to my bank or that we plan an in-bank transfer of funds. I will of course accept a cashier or bank check from another well known bank (not the United Pirates Bank of Somalia, etc.) but we will have to plan delivery of the vehicle during banking hours so we can verify the check is good. Same for postal money orders, we'll have to verify their authenticity at our local post office. This is so both of us have a legit and pleasant eBay experience. Any personal check will require that you mail it to me well ahead of time for it to clear; probably plan for at least a week's delay picking up the truck. Please do not ask to make the check amount for more than the value of the truck and ask for change, I will not do that. Also, cash will be accepted but no monopoly money or duplicate serial numbered bills; I hate when that happens. :D
