Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1975 Honda XL125 When I was a kid I had a bike just like this one. I bought this one and have learned that my 125 riding days are over. I love this old bike. I''ll tell you everything I can about it. The fuel tank is solid. The inside is in great shape. The paint still shines. Side covers are in good shape, one minor crack. Bike runs terrific, has great compression and doesn't use oil. Points adjusted, ignition timing set, timing chain adjusted, valves adjusted, spark plug replaced, carb cleaned, oil changed, fuel valve seal all replaced late last fall. Tires are surprisingly good with a very few weather cracks. Tubes hold air all winter long. I replaced the rear fuel tank mount too. The seat is in great shape. Included: extra headlight, "XL125" side panel decals, fork seal set, countershaft seal, shift shaft seal, o-ring for fuel tank. But you don't have to take my words for it, you can watch the bike in this YouTube video Problems - The end of the muffler has been removed. The bike is not quiet, but it's not so loud that you want to throw rocks at the rider as they go by. If I were to keep it I would add a cap to the existing muffler, but it is fine as it is. It's missing it's air filter foam. The cage is still there, the foam has just fallen apart. I was going to stretch a sock over it. Yes, really. There is no battery. Speedometer gear is missing but I have verified that the speedo works. Rear dampers leak, fork seals leak. Bike drips oil very slowly from flywheel cover area. It also very slowly leaks fuel unless you turn the valve off overnight. Someone over the years has added a 52-tooth rear sprocket (stock is a 48) which gives the bike very low overall gearing. I would prefer the 48 for street use. Redline (9500rpm) nets about 50 mph in top gear. With stock gearing it will pull 60. Someone else decided to paint the muffler silver. It needs to go back to black in my opinion. I have a good Iowa title to the old thing and it is in my name. The registration is up to date and it's ready to go. I have told you just about everything I can think of on this old thing. I've talked it down quite a bit but it really is a solid 35 year-old machine! I'd guess I've put about 200 miles on it this year, all on the street, just buzzing around doing this or that. The bike gets looks everywhere it goes - probably just because I look silly on it. I use to own one of these bikes when I was a kid - but I'm not a kid anymore. I think the bike should be restored - but you do as you wish with it. I have not gone to any great lengths to wash it up for pictures - this is pretty much how it looks everyday. If you have more questions don't be afraid to call me - I'll tell you anything you want to know. Jason @ 319-310-0451 And remember: preserve nature, always wear a helmet, and think safety - at least that's what the sticker says. And don't forget to look at my feedback score! Good luck! Someone was worried that because I was able to start the bike with my hand that the engine might be weak. I was going to tell them it's because I'm so manly, but instead I've included a compression test photo. I'll let it speak for itself. 2. No, the fuel tank is not as nice as it looks in the video. There are a few small chips in the paint, two dings and a wear mark on the left. Funny, the one I had as a kid had the same wear mark. To be a show bike it should be painted, on a driver it's in very good shape. 3. Someone who was watching really closely noticed there are two bolts missing from the rear fender! They're right, there are two missing bolts in the rear fender. There is also a patch that was welded-in to the bottom of the muffler that I didn't mention. 4. Lights - Only the headlight operates without the battery, and I have never put a battery in it. Both hi and lo beams work. The extra headlight is just that - extra. 5. The reason I have the side cover decals is because I was going to repaint the side covers. The black paint on them is weak. The sticker on the side cover says "House of Honda, Waterloo Iowa" The pink piece of paper in one of the photos is a pre-inspection deal from 1977. 6. The fork seal job is much easier than it sounds. The most important things to know about the bike are - it runs well, and it is about 99% complete. Anyway if you've got questions keep 'em coming. Good luck!
