2002 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS LSE. 80,000 ORIGINAL MILES..NEEDS ENGINE REPLACED OR ENGINE REBUILD. THIS IS THE RARE LSE MODEL WITH THE PERFORMANCE PACKAGE THAT INCLUDED DUEL EXHAUST, CENTER CONSOLE, TUNED SUSPENSION AND 235 HP 4.6 L ENGINE. This was Mercurys version of the Crown Victoria LX Sport which is also hard to find. This would be a good car to put some money into. I bought it it 2005 when it had 35,000 miles on it.The check engine light started coming on with a code of P306 (misfire on # 6 Cylinder). Mechanic did a diagnostic test on engine and said that #6 cylinder only has 45 PSI and that the rings are bad in that cylinder. All other cylinders are ok. It needs a replacement engine or needs to be torn down and rebuilt. One or both Catylitic convertors should also be replaced because they may have been damaged because if the misfire. I decided not to repair the car and selling it AS IS.The car is complete and loaded with options and they all work.The transmission shifts fine. It also has 4 Firestone Tires on it with less than 1000 miles on them that were put on in June 2011. The Engine does run but I would not advise driving it very far. I will describe as accurately as possible the known defects of the car: Dent on passenger side door. Radiator support is bent (it has been that way since I bought it in 2005 and has not been a problem). The Vehicle History report by Auto Check reports no accidents on this vehicle. I have an old Carfax report from 2006 before I bought it that showed an accident reported 2/24/2004 with some frame damage. This was rear end body damage that was professionally repaired at that time. I had some minor right front fender damage repaired a couple of years ago when somebody bumped into it. Ball joints and tie rod ends and front shocks were replaced less than 2 years ago. Has current PA inspection Sticker good until November 31,2011. Car has been driven daily until 2 weeks ago. Brakes are good, Pads were replaced less than 2 years ago. Transmission has had the fluid changed and filter. Front end was aligned May 2009. Rear Air Bag Suspension works fine. Get the engine work done and car is ready to go.
