Vehicle Detail
This is a 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook. It has a 3 on the tree manual transmission. It is still in original condition. It was originally mint green top with emerald green sides. THE GOOD: The man who owned it before us is a lifelong mechanic. He drove the car back and forth to work for 2 years. He took very good care of the engine. He put new wiring on the engine. That is the only thing done to the engine. It is a flathead 6. Good clutch. My wife drives this around town and locally. Everything still works, horn, lights, signals, radio turns on-just static, antennae is broke off. We have the original seats, but they are down to the skeletons. Right now, there are two bucket seats in it. Car is from Portage, IN. Was in a barn there, til the mechanic bought it. We were going to restore it, but found a 2 door coupe to work on instead. Has good tires. Five matching, original hub caps. We have more of the trim/mouldings for the body. Title is clear. Engine purrs. The BAD: Needs floor work. Rusted through in spots. You can buy floor pans for this car from mopar sites. The gas tank rusted off while the prior owner had it. He installed a boat tank in the trunk. We don't go that far, so its worked for us. We might have an extra tank on a '50 plymouth sedan we have. Will check that out. We are currently completing our '50 Plymouth Coupe restoration. Won't be needing this car anymore. I have driven it to a couple car shows. I have only gone about 30 miles with the car, so I don't know how far you could drive it to get it home. With the '50 coupe, we completely rebuilt the engine, but kept the flathead six, to get more pickup. We'll have dual carbs, true dual exhaust, split manifold. Something we thought about doing with this car. This car is for sale locally, if we sell, we will remove auction.
