Vehicle Detail

0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Please read the description before bidding or e-mailing me with questions. I will not ship this car out of the continental U.S., so do not ask. A $5,000 deposit will be due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. I will not release the car or sign the title over until any and all checks have been cleared by my bank. Please serious bidders only. Now that I have that out of the way: This is a 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi Quatrovalvolle with 65,050 miles. I purchased this car less than a year ago from my wife’s step-father who had owned it since about 1986. I am only selling it because I have found something else that I would like to buy, and I need to sell this first. Since I have not owned the car for very long, I do not know a lot about it, but I will tell you everything I can about what I do know about it. The car has been maintained regularly for most of its life by Andy Green of Sports & Vintage Racing in Savannah, Georgia. According to my father-in-law, he had Andy go through everything a couple of years ago, and he spent over 5k having all kinds of service work done on the entire car, including engine work (new plugs, seals, and tune up) as well as checking the suspension, brakes, etc. The car has less than 1,500 miles on it since this work was done. He also took the car into Kent Bush at Foreign Car Center here in Brunswick right before he sold it to me to have everything inspected and to have the emergency brake repaired. The car has less than 300 miles on it since this was done. The car is in overall good condition and runs well and shifts smoothly. It is a lot of fun to drive and will definitely draw some attention. Here are the things that I know that should be addressed: The paint is in overall very good condition and looks fantastic from very close up. There are, however, a couple of areas that I have found where the paint could use a touchup repair if wanted. The worst is on the front passenger side fender where there are a couple of cracks in the paint about 2-3” long. You cannot see these until you are right on them. I have included a photo to try to show this area. The others are along the thin black line that separates the rear fenders from the body where there is some tiny bubbling under the black line and little under the paint on the driver side in the same area. I will also try to take photos of this to see if will show up. The interior is definitely the worst part of the car. It is worn but presentable. The driver’s seat is the worst since the leather on the piping has torn in a few spots allowing the piping to show through. The carpet looks good. The dash has some light crazing or wrinkles on the passenger side. Overall, it could just use a little detailing. I do have the Ferrari cloth seat covers, which help hide any flaws in the leather seats. All of the lights, horn, etc. work. The A/C blows, but the air does not seem very cold. However, I honestly have not really ever used it since I normally drive the car with the top off. I just tested it to make sure that it was working. The car runs well when driven regularly (every couple of weeks or so). I have noticed that the belt will squeak for a couple of seconds when you first start the car when it has been sitting for a while. It has only started to run a little hot once since I have owned it and that was only on a 101 degree day when I got stuck at a standstill in a traffic jam for about 20 minutes. The battery may need to be replaced, and if so, I will deduct this cost off of the winning bid. There is a battery disconnect under the hood that I forgot to unhook before letting the car sit for almost a month. When I went to start it recently, the battery was dead, and I had to give it a boost from my other car. It started just fine when being jumped. I have put together a short video on Youtube showing the car that can be found by searching for 1985 Ferrari GTSi QV For Sale. I would have attached a link, but eBay kept giving me some sort of warning. If you can't find the YouTube video, e-mail me and I will send you a link to it. If you have any questions you can reach me at 912-554-1914. Again, I do not know very much about the car, and I probably won’t be able to answer any technical questions. I will be happy to take any special photos and e-mail them to any serious bidders. I have had some questions about the vehicle report which has some errors. I called my father-in-law to get a history from him. He purchased the car from F.A.F. motors in Atlanta in 1988. From 1989 until 1999 the car was registered in South Carolina. The auburn, Alabama must be some sort of error. When he transfered the title to Georgia in 1999, the state made an error and showed the odometer reading at 65,000 instead of the actual 62,000. He notified the state and they reissued a new title with an exempt odometer reading. I originally was going to help him sell the car last year and I took photos of the car at this time. When I did this the odometer was showing 64,755. He offered the car to me and I decided to purchase it. The actual current mileage is 65,050.
