BODY: Clean original body repainted approx. 10 years ago in original shade of Colonial White. Very Straight and nice with a few chips from use. All chrome and stainless good. Looks to be original maple trim. Beautiful hand painted wood inserts. Nice glass. Beautiful car. ENGINE: Original style 256 V8 engine. Rebuilt approx. 2,000 miles ago. TRANSMISSION: Rebuilt original Merc-O-Matic automatic trans approx. 2,000 miles ago. Shifts great. EXHAUST: Original style exhaust. Sounds great. FRONT SUSPENSION: Stock rebuilt front suspension. Rides great. REAR SUSPENSION: Original rear. Rebuilt. BRAKES: Original style standard drum brakes with an upgraded dual master cylinder. Brakes work great. INTERIOR: Completely redone in a similar to stock style. Redone from headliner to carpet some years ago. Beautiful job done from top to bottom. Still beautiful. Excellent dash with all new chrome and paint. Clock and radio do not work as they need a 6 volt stepdown installed. Beautiful steering wheel. Horn works. Gauges work. Windows work fine. Rare third row seat. WHEELS/TIRES: Original style steel wheels. Stock hubcaps. Radial wide-white tires. OVERALL CONDITION: Great Driver and show car. SUMMARY: This 1954 Mercury Monterey Woodie is one of approx. 300 early 1954 Mercs that had real maple wood trim. This car is owned by a friend of mine that just doesn't use it enough. He bought the car already done. It has been upgraded to a 12 volt electrical system with an alternator. The wiring harness has been upgraded to a modern system as well utilizing modern fuses. A previous owner thought it would be neat to restore the undercarriage in the colors used in the ball joint suspension ad (see pic of ad above). He has multiple cars and is downsizing his collection. He just took it to Santa Cruz for the Woodies on the Wharf car show without a problem. It cruises down the highway just fine and can keep up with the traffic as needed. The car does run and drive great and gets more attention than you can imagine. Black 1954 plates will not go with the car as they were a gift from a friend. Not perfect but showable immediately.
