10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THIS PARTICULAR 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID: 1) Probably the best reason is the low miles on the vehicle. With less than 62,000 miles this car has one of the lowest mileages of any that I have been able to find for sale. 2) Despite the low miles, the price of this vehicle is WAY LESS than others that I have found on ebay or trader on line. Check it out for yourself and you will see that similar 2003 Honda Civic Hybrids are being sold for significantly more money than this one, even though they have over twice the miles on them !!! This is a huge difference. 3) The car is a one owner vehicle, purchased new by the current owner in March of 2003. 4) The vehicle has spent the last 6 years in central Texas ... with no salt on the roads and no snow ! Before that it was in NY, but was not driven when snow or ice was on the road. 5) All of the aerodynamic shields on the underside of the vehicle are there. I have found that many other Civic Hybrids do not have them in place because they were not properly replaced after oil changes. They are held in place by plastic clips and if the person doing the oil change does not properly use these clips then the shields do not get properly installed, and end up falling off. 6) The inside of the car is clean and in excellent condition. 7) All glass on the car is in excellent condition. 8) This is a big one: The main Hybrid IMA battery pack was replaced by Honda with a NEW (not rebuilt) battery pack in May of 2010 (about 5000 miles ago) . The cost to replace this pack runs about $2000.00 ! If you are considering buying a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid and the battery pack has NOT been replaced then you may soon be in for an expensive repair. 9) This car is ready to drive anywhere. Along the same lines: this car is as strong as a regular Civic; it was built on a standard Civic Chassis, and not built with extra thin or light materials so as to save weight as Hybrid cars are that are made specifically to be a Hybrid from design up. MILES PER GALLON: This vehicle is a Hybrid and gets excellent MPG's . Overall you can expect above 40 MPG's and on highway trips you can get nearly 50 MPG's . The actual miles per gallon will vary greatly depending on the driver. There are some drivers who claim that they get over 50 MPG's on Honda Civic Hybrids; but if you ask me that must involve low speed driving. There is an art to driving a Hybrid that involves anticipation of red lights, stop signs, and traffic so that you don't waste fuel. Please note that this is not a new car, and that there are : various cosmetic blemishes on the outside. There are several of them, most fairly small, and many hardly noticeable. Most of them don't show in the pictures, but can be seen upon closer inspection of the vehicle. A body shop could touch up all of the blemishes at a reasonable price if they bother you (at your expense of course, after the sale). Overall the car presents well; but let's face it .. it is a used car. The small paint chips on the hood were caused by gravel spilling out of a gravel truck. Though this also caused the front windshield to be replaced, the upside was that it also resulted in a nice new windshield ! In the pictures (you can see them at the link above) I have included a few OF THE UNDERSIDE of the car as well as the exterior and interior. I did this so that you can see that the vehicle is in excellent condition on the underside, undamaged by any accidents.
