1978 Mercedes 300D in very good condition. Mechanically very good condition. Drives great. Transmission in excellent shape. motor starts well and has no problems. the motor has not been rebuilt and I don't think that it needs to be. Tires are OK. Has new steering components and upgraded Glow plugs. Front seats have been recovered in MB Tex. Air conditioner & climate control does not work. We were told that if the AC was fixed the controls would work. Heater works on Defrost only but will heat the car easily. Front power windows work well but rear windows do not. Power locks operate on vacumn and developed a leak so we had the line unhooked. We were told that it was easy and inexpensive to fix if you are mechanical. Alternator was just replaced and it has a new battery. This car was bought new in Augusta GA. and then moved to Greenville, SC. I am the third owner and I have had it for 10 years. No major problems except AC. We drove it everyday until last month when we purchased a convertable. It gets about 25 MPG average. It is a little hard to tell because the odometer is broken. However the clock works perfectly and always has. I estimate that there is around 200, 000 miles on the car now. If you look at it you can tell that it could not be much more than that. We installed a nice CD player with aux. input for Ipods and other music players and new speakers in the rear. Nothing fancy but nice sounding ( for a Middle aged adult) . This car has never been driven by a teenager. There is one small bit of damage to the passenger side headlight area and the grill. (shown in pictures.). Other than that the body is very straight and no rust issues. Still has original paint. Dash is in very nice shape. Rear seat needs to be recovered but it is definitely usable. Has cruise control but has not worked since I had the car. That's about all I know to tell you. Vehicle is sold as is and without warranty or refunds. Happy bidding.
