Vehicle Detail

1947 Plymouth Deluxe NO RESERVE This is a 1947 Plymouth Deluxe P15 2dr Sedan. This Deluxe was restored around 1985, it was a father and son project. The car is actaully in pretty nice shape for paint that 26 years old. The body on the car is in good shape, no rust issues on the body itself, no rust bubbles, rockers look good, bottom of the doors are clean, fenders, around the windows all look very nice. I do have the factory stainless trim that goes along the bottom of the car, it is hard to find, but they need to be restored, but I will include them with the sale. There are some scatches and chips on the car, mostly on the passenger side, no dents, just light scratches and chips. The paint has a little patina on it, the hood, and top of the fenders have very light micro blisters, they might be able to be waxed out, you have to look at it close to see them, I caught a couple in some of the photos, just nice patina on the paint. The gentleman I got the car from, let his elderly father, back it into the garage, and he light slide the car across a ladder, and it put some chips in the fenders down the side, you can see the pictures of this. He put some light fingernail polish on the chips, which is really what you are seeing, those spots could be light wetsanded down and buffed, he was not to carefull with the clean polish he put on, but at the time it was clean now it has aged. Overall, a very nice car for a daily classic car, that you can drive an enjoy, take in parades and such. The undercarriage and frame are in decent shape, they were undercoated a few times in the past. There were what looks to be a couple patches, on the front floor boards, you can see a couple on the floor, between the frame and the rocker on the front floors. Overall many people wouldn't really notice, unless you crawled under the car and looked for them. The frame is in very good shape, no signs of any weak areas or rust issues. All the factory body mounts are very solid, and are not rusty, very solid. The trunk area is all carpeted and is glued in. I do not have the spare tire for it, but it is a basic 5 lug wheel. Overall the trunk is clean. The bumpers could stand to be rechromed, there is some plating coming off in a few spots. It does run and drive, the engine runs great, starts right up, and idles nicely, Plymouth straight 6, 3pd on the column. I have driven it around town, and it is a great little car. The brakes were just completly redone, new shoes all the way around, rear brake cylinders, rear axle seals, front lower and upper wheel cylinders, and front shoes. It cost me just in parts around $500 just for the brake items, shoes, brake cylinders etc, not including labor. The car stops good currently. The transmission is a 3 on the tree, the clutch feels great, and does not chatter, very smooth. The front king pins have been replaced a few years back as well. The odometer and speedomer are not currently working. The rest of the gauges work, the Oil Pressure reads 40-45 at idle which is great. It also has a new muffler installed as well recently. Overall mechancically it seems to be in good shape, it could use minor cleaning, and general maintence, but if you want a car that you can drive around town and go to cruisins and just enjoy and fix up as you go, then this would make a great car. The emergency brake works as well. The exterior lights all work, even the brake light, in the center lights up. The turnsignal swith is not working, these cars did not have turnsignals back in the day, or they did not work well, so most people put an aftermarket one on the column such as this car, not sure if it is the switch or not. Overall a great running car, that is really easy to drive, for anybody, very smooth. Interior was also restored in 1985, and looks very nice for its age. Headliner is nice, seats are very nice, carpet looks great. Door panels are in very nice shape as well. The dash area is original, even has the factory radio, I can get it to buzz from time to time, but it is not working. The heater blower is working. The windshield wipers work, emergecy brake works. The dome light is not working at this time. The instrument lights are working. The windows roll up and down nicely. The serial number is on the inner door drivers door jam. On these cars of this vintage depending the state, the engine has a ID number, and the Title Vin Number matches that number on the engine, pretty typical. Overal all a nice clean interior, it does not have any bad odors, just nice and clean for its age. It is NOT a trailer queen, but is a nice time capsule, 1947 Plymouth that you would not be afraid to drive, but would also want to park it far away from anyone else in a general parking lot.
