Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car in Florida in December of 1999 with 42,500 miles on it. It had a rebuilt title as a result of some minor flood damage but had been restored to proper working condition. Since that time I have enjoyed a nearly trouble free car, doing routine maintenance, oil changes and predictable repairs as necessary. This is by far far the best car I have ever owned. It has been pampered, garaged and stored during winters. On July 1,2011 it was in an accident damaging the front right side of car (see pictures) This is still a restorable car or can be used for parts. I would be happy to answer any questions regarding its condition. EXTERIOR: Mostly all original including paint. Some minor touch up work was done before I owned it but to the best of my knowledge, this is the first significant collision it has ever been in. The body and chassis are still 90% rust free. Doors and fenders, trunk lid, rocker panels, body panels etc are in good shape and are reusable. The tires are 75% and are mounted on 15" Mercedes wheels. (original tires were 14" as depicted by the picture of the original spare still in the trunk.) There is some fading and chipping in the roof and windshield pillar area. INTERIOR: Interior is smoke free. Seats are firm and comfortable and in good shape with no rips or tears although the drivers seat has some minor color loss in the leather. The left rear pillar along the back window is missing the leather and the backing piece that held it on and the rear deck shelf is beginning to deteriorate. The dashboard has two linear cracks in it. Headliner is "loose" in a couple places but still generally presentable. The carpeting has been protected by aftermarket floor mats since before I have owned it. Power seats, including power headrests, work fine although there is some "grumbling" when operating the motors. The driver's side seat heater does not work. Car also has an updated stereo with CD player and i pod cable. ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN: The motor sustained some damage in the accident. The radiator was pushed into the engine breaking off several fan blades and bending the bracket for the alternator. There is also a kink in the oil pan and the mounting points for the air cleaner are broken. It still starts and runs but the fan is unable to turn freely unless the radiator is removed. The transmission has always performed well. Although trans fluid would leak out when car was stored, it would seal up again once it was driven on a regular basis. The rear end has an occasional "clunk" in it which has been there since I've owned it and has never gotten any worse. I was told by Mercedes this is typical of that vintage car and I experienced the same thing in another 500 series car that I owned. I will accept a deposit of 250.00 through Paypal within 48 hours of auction. Balance must be paid within seven days by cash or same as cash (certified funds) Buyer is responsible for all transportation costs and arrangements. License, insurance and title transfer etc.along with all applicable fees and legal obligations are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Again, as stated in the 1st paragraph, there is some damage to the car, and it does have a salvage title. The winner will be purchasing this car "as is". Please e-mail with any concerns - I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.
