The first state-side owner bought the car in a charity auction in 1976 before shipping it over from England, after that it was mainly used for parades and weddings and his own personal enjoyment. During this time the vehicle received it’s maintenance at the Rolls Royce dealership in Houston, TX. Due to the owner’s health the car had less focus and became forgotten in the garage. And this is when it joined our family in 2001. I remember the day we picked up this beautiful automobile 10 years ago. My father and I are quite the automobile enthusiasts, so you can imagine our excitement getting hold of such a time piece. Over the years we have approached this project like eating an elephant, “one piece at a time”. Over the years we have rebuilt the carburetor, water pump, distributor and generator among many other small projects. We also did a complete redesign on the air box removing the old internals making it use a modern foam air filter. We rebuilt one of the two original distributor coils with a modern coil and ran all new plug wires and plugs. The original fuel pump has been rebuilt to a flow through design to look as original as possible but not function, a modern electric fuel pump has been located at the fuel tank. Front tires and tubes recently replaced and all four 19 X 6.50 Coker Classic tires match. Front seats are leather, back seats are cloth. Rear seat cushion has been recovered over original material and new carpet has been cut and placed over original carpet. Original wood dash is in place but has cracks and needs to be redone. All of the glass is in excellent condition. If you are not familiar with these cars the chassis and the drive train are built by Rolls Royce and then sent off to specific coach builders. This coach specifically was built by Park Ward and is made from a solid ash frame with aluminum outer skin which has saved this car from rusting and being as heavy as cars of this time genre tend to be, significantly reducing over all weight. Another interesting fact about the signature Rolls Royce flying lady radiator ornament and cap is that they were all individually hand cast with this one being made from the original 1911 casting. The car also comes with an extra everyday radiator cap for when the car isn't being shown. Overall this car is in good condition and is ideal for someone wanting to do a full restoration, or it could be taken to shows and added to your personal collection in its current condition. This car is not a pristine never driven model, but overall it's in great shape for its age. Some issues to be aware of are the car has some paint chipping that has been touched up (little rust because the coach is aluminum) Some slight corrosion bubbling around the front vent. The front headlights are in amazing condition and all lenses are in great shape. The radiator is made out of nickel with vents that are thermostatically controlled to open and close (currently in the open position and not functioning). I have hand polished the Lacquer paint a couple of times which brings out its luster and polished almost everything and anything metal on the car. The quality of chrome and the metals they used back then are far superior to what we use now. The car is super clean and would be a great addition to anyone’s collection whether restored or shown as is. The original owners manuals and hard to find factory shop manuals will come with the car along with other items I have. New old stock side mount trafficators (turn signals) will be provided with car and may require some rewiring along with the rear license plate lamp assembly.
