Vehicle Detail

1957 FORD F-350 4X4 The obvious; Its a Truck among Trucks. 4X4 V-8, Powerful, Stout and Proud American Steel. The not so obvious; Ford gave birth to the new body style in 57 unto which all others followed. This particular truck underwent the obvious conversion brought about by the NAPCO family (North American Power Co). In the day Napco and Marmon Harrington and others were doing 4X4 conversions for the truck industries. You did not just mozy on down to the dealership and buy a 4X4, you went down, declared you wanted one and in due time the truck was built custom. In 57, Ford was alighned with Marmon Harrington to convert the lighter duty trucks but the one ton and heavier were converted by NAPCO, which in itself has a huge family of surviver vehicles 90+% are Chevy, GMC, Studebaker and a few others Im not sure of but FORD was the odd one out. This particular truck is 1 of 2 I have seen, actually 3 but the third was a conversion from a 2 wheel truck in Cali done by an enthusiast onto a later model frame. This and the other truck which is a panel truck are the only 2 I have ever seen in the 57 year line by Napco for FORD. Doesnt mean its rare, it means its unique, quite possibly one of a kind. The options are as follows, from FORD; 4 speed tranny with Mech. PTO, 272 V-8, 9 foot style side bed (exclusive to F-350) chrome grille From NAPCO; Heavy Duty 4X4 conversion, divorced transfer case, cranked up suspension, 514 gears front and back. Others, unknown, converted the rear bumper to a step, the front to a MONSTER winch, bed shelving and water tank. The history on this truck is preserved through the Mt Lodge Fire Co in NY. Thats right Boys and Girls this was an actual Fire Rig. The truck was purchased by and converted for use by the Mt Lodge Fire Co for which this truck served as a proud American Soldier among the elite. For me, this truck is bad ass but my dreams for this truck take me down a different road, one to which I can always convert another truck for my pleasure and amusement. This truck, should really be done over by someone who has the love for the beast as it was designed or even just to take it back to the 4X4 conversion and forgo the rest. This truck works, everything works. I fixed all the broken little things and did a few extras but the truck is 95% complete, very restorable and Bas Ass as only American Steel can be. Pull up to any other truck on the road, old or new, they all want to be this cool. Trucks, BUILT FORD TOUGH, driven by the American man (or woman) with pride. You got questions? I got answers, go for it!! Update, recently doing some research on the napco Fords I found a company that sells vintage cars and trucks. They recently sold an F-350 Napco and said it was 1 of 3 built. I dont know where they got there information from but its hard to argue this could be true. Also the truck they sold went for a good penny and needed total restoration much like this truck. The company that sold this truck is easily sought out on Google but feel free to ask and Ill give you that info as well.
