Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is our 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 with a 292 Thunderbird motor and 3-speed (on the tree) standard manual transmission. The car was in storage for some years and has been cleaned, serviced and is ready for ice cream runs or car shows now. All fluids have been changed, engine has been cleaned and painted, all floor pans are solid, body is straight and only has small patches of rust on lower corners of doors. The car was painted black with laquer and was hand rubbed out - it looks very nice but could use a repaint to be really perfect- has lots of small dings, scuffs and a little lifting of the clearcoat in a few spots, but it is sharp and doesn't detract from the car. Has all chrome trim, new tires, cleaned & tested radiator, new plugs & wires, new ignition coil, carpeting, distributor and points, new master cylinder, oil filter, cleaned gas tank and line, new gaskets, vacuum & heater lines, new rebuilt Mustang carburetor, and lots of other stuff. The car starts, runs and drives well and lumbers down the road smoothly; has good brakes and is a pleasure to cruise around town. It is a midwestern car and has the normal but not excessive underbody dirt and rust- for a midwest car it must have been garaged quite a bit. The car sports newer upholstery, tear and rip free, and has a nice upholstered headliner but has some small holes in it. Mechanically it has been checked out by a shop and it has been given a good bill of driving health. The gas tank gauge, analog clock, radio and speedometer don't work yet. The transmission and clutch sound & feel good- the e-brake hasn't been used in a long time and I haven't tried it - probably needs to be well-greased to be used, but the wheel cables look good inside and should work well. Has both dog-dish chrome wheel caps and trim rings for a sporty and fast look, but also comes with the original large '57 Fairlane dinner-plate hubcaps. I have a set of aftermarket horns but haven't had time to install. The car has nice hood and tail ornaments, molding and the car presents itself well. I have new glass for the driver's and passenger's doors as they are cracked, all other glass is solid and crack free. All doors close and latch easily for safety; the passenger rear door locks well but has a little bend in the sheet metal and has a little gap when closed. If you are looking for a driver car as is or want a solid vehicle for a hot-rod project this car is a great candidate. The bumpers have some chrome loss and wear, the grill was blasted and chrome painted. All external lights and turn signals work well. Please look over the pics and ask any questions you may have. The car does have a little musty smell from sitting, but to me it is an "old car" smell and brings back memories. Thanks for looking and ask all questions before bidding. Winner to pay $200 non-refundable down payment through PayPal within 24 hours and balance due in cash upon pick-up, or the whole payment can be made with PayPal if buyer agrees to cover the 4% fee. Vehicle has a clean and clear title. Bidders with negative feedback are asked to contact me ahead of time- NO international bidders. I can help loading car for shipment but can not deliver. On Aug-13-11 at 18:50:12 PDT, seller added the following information: One quick addition: I don't know how the blower motor works on this car, so I cannot guarantee it works. Both left and right side heater ducts open by pulling the knobs on the dash- but I don't hear a blower motor- just want to be thorough. On Aug-13-11 at 18:56:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Trunk is very solid except for under the spare tire- there is rust out under the tire, and a little bit behind the back wheels- but very little, besides that the trunk pans have been cleaned, wire wheeled, sealed and a custom carpet installed.
