Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car last year from the previous owner who drove the car fairly regularly since he purchased it sometime in the 90's. Unfortunately, he was involved in a traffic accident that struck the car on the driver's side. The previous owner then placed the car in an autobody shop where various repairs were made to repair the damage; as well as some rust that had developed in some areas. He eventually grew impatient with the rate of progress, and removed the car from the shop prior to completion. It is in the same condition today as I have done nothing but store it. The car was originally an S-Code (390)/C6/9" drivetrain. The current drivetrain is a 351W/FMX with what appears to be the original 9" with 3:00 gearing (the tag is still present). The 351 runs and was driven off of the trailer when I took delivery. It does have a broken LH motor mount that occurred as a result of the accident. I recieved a '67 date-coded 390/C6 combination with the car and it will be included in this auction. This 390 appears to be complete minus the alternator and is equipped with a factory A/C compressor (the mustang is not an original A/C car). The mechanical condition of this engine/trans is unknown. The bodywork that was done after the accident included new fenders, a new LH door shell, LH rocker, complete LH quarter panel, partial RH quarter panel (for rust repair) and a new deck lid. Some minor rust pitting is evident on the RH door and on the RH rocker, but I believe that this could be repaired without replacement panels. All other panels appear to be in good condition; the hood, roof, floorboards and underbody are all very straight and solid. The cowl was also redone recently and is rust-free. The only serious issue that remains on the body is a seam that was cut along the driver's side floorboard that extends to the LH wheel well. I was told that this seam was cut as part of the collision repair in order to properly align the LH door frame and wheel well. This seam should be fairly easy to patch and would be undetectable under the carpet. The interior is fairly complete. The upholstery on the front buckets and 2+2 seat is in good condition. I have a new instrument bezel, dash pad and headliner with insulation. All of the fiberglass panels appear to be present with the exception of the sail vent trim panels. All of the glass is present and in good condition; with the exception of a small rock chip on the windshield). I also have a number of other new parts such as emblems, weatherstripping, seals, heater plenum and splash shields. The car is currently rolling on aluminum wheels with new Firestone Indy 500 tires, but I also have a set of "styled" wheels that I will include with the car. I have looked at several fastbacks since purchasing this car, and this is the most solid and complete '67-'68 that I have found that could still be called a "project". This is a no-reserve auction, let's see what it's worth. I have no means of delivering this car; be prepared to pick it up if your the high bidder. Good luck! I would encourage any bidder to view this car in person. Please call for an appointment. I'm sure that I may have missed some things, so please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
