Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful 1961 MGA 1600. The car went through a very high-quality restoration about ten years ago. It is in excellent condition. I would call it an extremely nice driver, not a show car. But it looks fantastic going down the road. The car runs and drives fabulously. The engine cant have more than a few thousand miles since it was rebuilt. It looks brand new, as does the frame and everything underneath. The transmission is very quiet and shifts smoothly with no noise going into second in either direction. This is the first thing to go on the MGA boxes, and the fantastic condition of the transmission tells me that it too was rebuilt not many miles ago and driven very carefully. The brakes are excellent and because it is a 1600 it has front discs which make a HUGE difference over the 1500 four wheel drum brakes. All of the electronics work except the wipers. The car has an original transistor AM radio which really adds a lot to the appearance of the dashboard! All of the gauges look brand new. The interior is gorgeous with premium plush black leather seats with red piping that really looks sharp. The carpets are like brand new and they sit over gorgeously stained and sealed wooden floorboards. The steering wheel is original but wrapped in very nice black leather, giving it a wonderful feel and a period-correct look! The paint is an older lacquer paint job, done probably 10-15 years ago. This is the biggest flaw in the car. The paint job is nice and very shiny but there is a fair amount of spider-webbing in the paint where the lacquer has shrunk. It is visible only up close. I tried to get it to show up in the pictures and if you look carefully at some of the close up shots you can barely make it out. There are also a few chips in the paint, which I photographed as well. Overall the paint is a 3 footer. At 3 feet it looks fantastic. When you get your head up close to it you can start to pick out some flaws in the paint. I have tried my best to take very honest pictures and represent the car honestly as it sits. That said, I strongly encourage anyone considering bidding on the car to inspect it first. It can be seen and driven in Southern Rhode Island by appointment. If you have any questions or would like me to take more photos of something specific, give me a call or email and I will be glad to do my best to answer them. Payment is to be made in full within five days of the auction ending. If you have less than 5 feedback please call me before bidding. Thanks and happy bidding! -Jeremy (401)965-6150
