Just in time for the late summer, I have listed a very nice BMW 325i Convertible. I purchased the car a couple of weeks ago for my wife. Now she found out that we will have a baby and we definatly need a family car. So I have to sell it again. The car runs great, looks great, and is so much fun to drive. The previous owner had a lot of work done to improve the car since he purchased it. First, and most importantly, roughly 18 months ago, he had the timing belt replaced, including the water pump and all the belts and hoses - this is a critical, and very expensive maintenance issue for the E30 series which should be done every five years or 50,000 miles. He had the entire AC system replaced, including the compressor, evaporator and condenser, and I am pleased to report the AC blows ice cold. During the AC job, he also had the radiator replaced and recently the alternator rebuilt and the battery replaced. The privious owner replaced the wheels (the original wheels had excessive wear) with 15" aluminum wheels and new tires. He went with 15" wheels so as to preserve as well as possible the original look of the car. The interior was redone, as the seats had several bad tears and wear spots. He replaced the front spoiler and rear bumper strip with BMW replacement parts. He also replaced the passenger power window switch which was going in and out - works great now. The car have only serviced with BMW mechanics and exclusively Castrol High Mileage 20/50 oil and a high quality Fram filter were used. Even the transmission oil was changed. The service indicators were reset as per the maintenance. All the service records for these jobs, totaling over $4,000 as well as the records from the previous owner are available. The previous owner took very good care of the car, and also used only a BMW shop for service. The car runs fantastically. I just ran the car 800 miles from Fort Lauderdale to Alabama and several people commented on how cool it is! I would have no fear hopping into this car and heading out on another long road trip. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and the engine purrs. It is a tremendous testament to the quality workmanship of the E30 series. There is no visible rust on the car at all. The paint is original. The convertible top is newer (was replaced by the previous owner). The radio has been replaced with a late model JVC unit. All the switches, lights and gadgets work - including the on-board computer (which was pretty advanced for it's day!) and the cruise control. Now it is a 20 year old car, and there are some issues with the car that have not been repaired. First, and perhaps most concerning for an auction listing, the odometer stopped working at 70,936. The previous owner's service records indicate that it stopped working at some time in 2006. The couple that owned the car before the previous owner drove it sparingly around town. The previous owner has also driven it less than 2,500 miles a year (his wife used it, and she worked less than a mile from their home). I only drove 800 miles from Florida and perhaps 200 miles around town so my best guess for actual mileage is between 90,000 and 100,000 miles - which is really low for such an old car. But the shape it is in suggests low mileage. To get the odometer fixed it only needs a VDO Gear set which get sold at Ebay for around $20. The convertible top is not opening completly since a couple of days. During the movement of the top the top cover will start closing. I believe it is nothing serious but I am not a mechanic so that I definatly want to list this topic. The top would go further down but i don't want to mess it up so that i didn't opened the top since this happened. I would change the top to manual and I am sure it would work perfect but with the baby comming I will give you the chance to decide for yourself if you want to fix it or if you want to cxhange it to a manual top. In addition it needed some help it thru some of the motions when putting it down (a tug here, a push there to complete the drop). The pictures were taken before the problem happened and show, how great the car looks like with the top down. The original paint has some fade in the hood (slightly) and the trunk lid (most extensive). The paint on the trunk mounted brake light shows the worst fade. I had it buffed out, and it could use another to get the paint back to great. There is a dent on the front passenger side panel that did not break the paint. It was there when I bought it, and I never got around to pulling it out. The radio antenna is bent slightly and does not go up and down (stays up). The speakers could use replacement, although they work fine. They just don't deliver great volume and do pop occasionally.
