The 560 SEC Coupe was one of the finest engineered cars Mercedes Benz has ever made. Rock solid and hand built in the Stuttgart plant, this model was the SEC's, making it the rarest of all 500 Series. With a MSRP of $68,000 the 1987 SEC was not for everyone. To put the price in perspective, you could buy 2 Corvettes and have enough change left to buy a Ford Taurus at that time. These cars oozed quality and excess. They were not for everyone. The look and price boasted about it. Doctors, High Priced Lawyers, Athletes and Royals were the target market. In fact Princess Diana always cherished her SEC as her favorite car. The 5 Liter V8 dispensed 275 HP and the power delivery was breathtaking. Highway handling is a dream. The faster you go the more comforting the ride.
