Vehicle Detail
This woody spent 45 years (1958-2003) on a Long Island Chevy Dealership floor. This is an actual 1929 Chevy Woody Hack not a kit. It was purchased from the dealer in 2003 and customized in 2003 and 2004. The original wood was removed and used as templates by a master wood worker. It took over 250 hours to complete and instal the body. Just look at the detail around the rear fenders. The drive train, suspension and transmission don by one of the top streetrod builders on the East Coast. Frank at Heritage Motors missed nothing! The 350 Chevy and 350 turbo trans were selected and the Edelbrock Performer RPM package including cam, manifold and carburetor installed. Headers with quiet mufflers completed the engine. A Genie Shifter and cooler added to the auto transmission and then mated to a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end. The suspension included a Progressive Automotive independent front suspension and rear weld-on parallel leaf springs with gas shocks. Brakes are disc on the front and drum on the rear. Wheels are powder coated 16X8 that allow a nice 16" radial but keep the stock look. New wiring harness, gauges, parade fan, flashers, turn indicators installed in the original tail lights and head lights. Tilt wheel, emergency brake and boots finish off the resto-mod. This woody is designed to run well and be dependable, perform like a hot rod but look like the original. Over $80,000 was spent on this rare car. There are a lot of Fords around but try to find a Chevy. There is less than 6000 miles on this woody since the work was done. The woody was purchased by Arnold Quinn Studios located in North Hollywood California in March 2006 to be used for a year as part of an art exhibit called "The Around the Lake Collection" by artist William A. S. Kreutz. This woody was used in one of the paintings and became part of the exhibit. I purchased the car in 2007 and used it over the last 4 years for weddings, car shows and Sunday drives with the grandkids. I would rate this car a 8.5 out of 10 but I am very picky. There are a few paint imperfections but very presentable. It is not a trailer queen, or a museum piece, but a very nice car that is built to drive.
