Vehicle Detail

I have an incredibly cool '56 VW single cab pickup for sale. I have owned this truck since the late 90's. It was always the truck for going to the dump or Home Depot for years until I bought a new pickup. It runs well and has always been reliable. I did a little research on thesamba.com and it appears that the truck was built at the Wolfsburg factory, not the Hannover plant that started production in 1956. I provided the VIN and you may find this VIN chart helpful: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/chassisdating.php I make no representation and it is up the buyer to make that determination his/herself. A Wolfsburg bus is more rare, valuable & worthy of restoration. The bad news is that this truck spent most of it's life in Minnesota and has plenty of rust to show for it. I really feel this truck to be more of a restoration truck than a driver, even though I had been using it as a utility truck myself. It was originally Dove Blue and was repainted for a local MN business. The paint job looked pretty bad when I got it so I camouflaged it. Needless to say it is a head turner. The previous owner told me the current motor came out of an early 60's bus and he thought it was a 40HP 1200cc version. I never verified it but the motor has always run well. The serial # on it is D028023X. He told me he thought it was a late '55 model but the VIN seems to indicate 1956. The gas heater works but would probably sicken you with CO poisoning. It comes with the truck but I will make no representations on it's safety. I have tested it a couple of times and that is all. I took a lot of photos of the truck over the past few days; some shots are more complimetary than others but I want a smooth sale and I feel that full disclosure is part of that. I think that the photos detail all attributes & flaws but I am willing to answer any potential questions. Here are the pics: http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc204/Kaeferpaul/1956%20Volkswagen%20Pritschenwagen/ And here is an older video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xRVjFcf9sE The truck is also available for local inspection. On Jul-27-11 at 19:27:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Also, I mentioned that the motor is not original to the truck but provided the VIN. The tranny may have been replaced at some time as well. I really haven't researched that and make no representation that the powertrain is original to the truck.
