Vehicle Detail

This is a very nice 1974 Lotus Europa TC that was painted as a JPS clone. It was a project of ours for the last 8 years and we have decided it's time to let someone else have some fun with it. We bought this from a trailer in central NJ where the previous owner had stored it since 1984. We went through the complete suspension, brakes, had the gas tank redone, had the brake booster rebuilt, had the radiator recored, and started to build the engine. I then lucked into a 73 Europa JPS that had been crashed in the front. I installed that engine which was rebuilt less than 1000 miles before the accident (according to the owner no records of this) and Type 365 5 speed gearbox. The engine runs perfectly and transmission shifts as well as any Europa I've ever driven. We sent it out to have it painted about 5 years ago and it looks very nice but does have some cracking starting on the roof. The only other problem was we had the gold pinstripping painted on and the front bumper was off when this was done. We was going by pictures and the front line is under the bumper. The rear bumper is perfect. The front bumper is OK but could use rechroming. I was unable to find anyone who could rechrome it since it is quite thin, same as it came from the factory not because of a problem. The interior does need some work. The seats and carpet are near perfect. The dash will need to be redone as both the top cover is loose and the wood should be redone. The door panels are in excellet shape but do come loose if you slam the door. Other things worth mentioning are I still have some odd and end spare parts from the other car which I will include. Things I know I have are a spare rear window, rear compartment, shift linkage, front grille, etc. Also the windshield is brand new with less than 20 miles so no stone chips or marks. I mention this as these are impossile to find and I have to drive to the border of canada and pay $600 for this one. This will need new trim around the windshield which is quite hard to find. I bought some genric trim and cut it to fit but never installed it. It will be included. Overall this is a nice car that you can get in and drive. To be perfect you would need to redo the dash and steering column surround, use better clips on the door panels, rechrome the front bumper, windshield trim, fix a slight crack in the lower front spoiler, it could use new rear shocks, and that is about it. This has been a toy that was driven very little since we got it but has been stored inside in a heated showroom. I will be very sad to see it go but I just had to move 4 Daimler SP 250s from my mother barn and need the space. So Happy bidding and good luck. You will be happy if you win this auction. You are welcome to see the car. My address is 1891 Route 38 Southampton, NJ 08088. You can call me at (609) 267- 8384 from 10am-6pm. I will be away next weekend for a race in Viriginia so I will do my best to answer E-mails but no promises. Thanks. Can't pick this up with a normal post lift. I have had a few people ask what is different about a JPS vs a TC Special. The only difference is the black paint with gold pinstripping and a plaque that says the JPS # on the dash. The type 365 5 speed gearbox was a factory option that this car I believe has had since new but had had since at least 1981. I also had a few people ask if black was the original color of this car. I had answered all of them yes it was original black. I just went over it with a fine tooth comb and noticed in the engine compartment there are a few chips inside the lip (you can not see them with the lid closed and could be easily touched up). In the chips in appears to be blue. I am not sure if that is just the gel coat of the fiberglass or if this was blue at one time, anyway I am no longer 100% sure this was black so sorry to anyone I already told that. The only other thing I noticed was a slight oil leak from the oil pan. I tighten up the bolts a bit and that seems to have stopped the leak but I would change the oil pan gasket this winter. You can't own a British car without it marking it's terriority anyway, it just wouldn't be right. I am also shocked no one has come to see this. I have almost 200 watchers and no one has come to see it first hand? Anyway I am competing in a 24 hour race at VIR this weekend so there may be a delay in responces to questions this weekend. Thanks again and good luck bidding, at this price someone is going to get a lot of car for the money. On Jul-29-11 at 10:40:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I was asked about what spare parts come with the car. I just did a quick search and these parts come with the car. If I find anything else I will include them as well. Horn button on the steering wheel. This was glued on at one time and that does not seem right to me but it is in very nice shape. Vacumn canister Spare Vacumn canister bracket Spare coolant reservoir complete stock exhaust but the muffler is bad (the car has a I believe stainless down pipe and muffler) both old brake boosters Starter Alternator engine wiring harness clutch with preasure plate spare set of wiper arms one spare side mirror and one spare rearveiw mirror a spare rear compartment with air cleaner a spare blower motor both steel engine mounts from a TC rear transmission crossmember from a TC with a 4 speed not sure if it's different complete shifter assembly from the same TC with a 4 speed spare rear window The only other thing I noticed is a small crack in the passenger side tail light, it is not missing pieces just a small split. I'm out of pictures I can list on here so if you'd like to E-mail me direct at thehedghog@aol.com I'll send you a picture. The other question I've received a lot is about the electricial systems. The lights, 4 ways, turn signals all work. The blower motor and wipers are not working. These were working so I know the motors are good. I'm sure it's in the ground and I'll look at that today and update the ad if I get them working. On Jul-29-11 at 12:12:16 PDT, seller added the following information: The wipers and blower motor are both working perfectly.
