Vehicle Detail
1992 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe Up for auction and looking for a new home, one super rare, very low mile, one owner, 1992 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe. Even better, this car has lived it's entire life here in the upstate of South Carolina. We bought this car from one of the local dealers and have run an Autocheck on it. Click on the "Autocheck" to view it. The odometer indicates this car has 33K miles. The vehicle history checks out. Even more telling than a history is the condition of the car. Everything on the car indicates the mileage is correct. This car was a big dealer trade in and South Carolina law says any car over 10 years old can be listed as "exempt" for mileage. Big dealers do this automatically to protect themselves. There is nothing we could about that on the title. That's why we do everything we can to verify it. On the outside, this car is finished in white. The paint is in excellent condition. This car has to have been garage kept. In fact, the headlights look brand new and are Ford headlights. They are not aftermarket repro's. I'm not saying the outside is concourse perfect, but it sure does look good. In fact, the only non-factory thing we can see on it is someone has tastefully filled in the lettering on the rear bumper. There is one place on the right upper corner of the rear bumper that appears slightly discolored, but it is minor. I have taken a photo of that place trying to show it. The inside is just as nice and amazingly stock. The gray tweed seats are near perfect condition. I say near because there may be something we haven't noticed, but, truth be known, we can't find any blemishes or wear anywhere. Now, this is a basic car. It has the standard power 8 way driver's seat and it works exactly as it should. The headliner is in excellent condition. Most telling about how well this car has been cared for is the dash. There are no cracks in the dash at all. This further indicates this car was garage kept. As I stated earlier, this is a low optioned car. It has the standard features plus a couple of extras. Most notably, it does have keypad entry that works great and semi-automatic climate control. The A/C is ice cold and works perfectly. It does have an aftermarket remote entry installed. That also works perfectly and was done tastefully (no chirp-chirp or ceremony when you lock it). It also has an aftermarket Sony cassette player installed that acts as a CD changer controller. The CD changer that goes with the radio is mounted in the trunk. The radio does not work and we have not had a chance to do any sort of trouble shooting on it. Honestly, I'd think about either going back with a factory cassette or a different and more modern after market radio. This was high tech back when it was installed, I have no doubt, but ... well, you get the idea. Enough about the cosmetics and stuff, if you've read this far, you're probably more interested in the drive train. The engine in this car runs great. It fires up perfectly and pulls strong. I mean really strong. These cars were easily running dead even with the Mustangs of the day and simply trounced the rivals from the imports. The supercharger is quiet when you are idling or calmly taking off from a stop, but dig in to it and that intoxicating super charger whine kicks in and begs you to unleash the power waiting under the hood. Nothing but fun. Yup, that about best describes it. On a side note, these cars are notorious for running warm. We've had some down right hot days here of late, and this car has only run in the low side or "normal" the whole time. The automatic transmission is one other option installed on this car. It shifts out perfectly. One of the things we look for on Fords from this era with the AOD transmissions is the throttle linkage. The factory linkage was held on by a urethane bushing. These bushings would dry up and fall off. This would allow the linkage to fall off. If this happened when you were stopped, not big worry. You simply didn't have overdrive until yo repaired it. If it fell off while going down the road, the next time you took off, you'd burn out one of your clutch rings and be looking at a rebuild. This car has the Ford designed fix for this issue already installed. The transmission shifts through all of the gears just like it was designed to do. No worries. The "firm ride" light does flash when you have the suspension in auto mode, but lights steady when you put it in firm mode. This is a rare chance to own a piece of automotive history. I seriously doubt you'll find another one of these cars with this many miles on it at the price we're asking. We've attempted to represent this car as completely and accurately as possible. We also welcome test drives and questions. If you ever have any questions about this car, you can call us at 864-576-2458 (ask for David) or contact us through ebay. Either way is fine. Feel free to call anytime between 8am and 11:30 pm EST any day of the week. I can also take more photgraphs and send them to you if needed. Test drives and personal inspections are encouraged. Feel free to check our feedback and bid with confidence. High bidder is required to make contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. $500 deposit (cashier's check or money order) is required within 2 days of the end of the auction with the remaining balance due 4 days thereafter. If the high bidder does not satisfy the balance in the alotted time period and does not make prior arrangements, the $500 deposit is non-refundable and I reserve the right, at that point, to offer the vehicle to the second highest bidder. If I do not hear from the high bidder within 48 hours from the end of the auction, I reserve the right to offer/sell the car to the second highest bidder. Zero feedback bidders are welcome, but please contact me prior to bidding. I reserve the right to cancel zero feedback bids that have not done this. Please keep this in mind if you are a "last minute" bidder. This vehicle is listed for sale locally for $4400. We reserve the right to end this auction early if the reserve has not been met and it sells locally. However, once the reserve is met on the Ebay auction we will pull it from the lot. I have set the reserve at $3800. Please note that I will not end this auction early except under the circumstances listed above. Ending an auction early when the reserve has been met is unfair to the other bidders and, quite frankly, downright unethical. We would be happy to pick up the winning bidder at the local airport (Greenville Spartanburg International Airport), the local train station, or the local Greyhound station. I do not pad our prices with any "documentation" fees like so many other car dealers on Ebay do. Contrary to what many dealers will say it really doesn't cost much to fill out a couple of papers. SC buyers will need to pay standard taxes (sales and property when applicable). I can also help out of state buyers get a South Carolina temporary/vehicle in transit tag ($20). Finally, SHIPPING...we do not ship cars ourselves. However, we will certainly work with your shipper any way we can. Please do not bid unless you are serious about purchasing this automobile. Good luck bidding.
