Vehicle Detail

1915 Model T Ford Roadster The Model T and Model A Fords are my favorite cars to work on and enjoy as a hobby - They are easy to drive, understand and repair. They are supported by scores of parts suppliers. Parts are available literally over night instead of hunting for months at swap meets for a part to get your dream car going again They are attention getting and fun to drive on the many tours arranged by your local Model T chapter. National meets such as the covered bridge tour in southern Indiana are a great way to meet folks I have 5 projects going so I am considering selling this one this Summer to someone who wants a “T” at a reasonable price before I begin work on it. I got it, changed the oil and carburetor and inspected it so far before beginning work This is a nice starter car for the first time buyer or for someone who wants a brass era look.. It was constructed who knows how many years in the past from different Model T parts. It is registered as a 1915 but, as close as I can tell here are the eras of the parts Do not bid as an original 1915 (expensive car) as it is made up of different years as listed below) Radiator is brass before 1916 cost $ 1350 if bought separate and if new has square honeycomb radiator Engine hood is 1914 or earlier however someone has modified it with riveted on engine cooling louvers (nice job) so it appears 1915-16 tires are 30 inch Wood wheels 1909-26 body I have been told may be a cutoff Touring body - ask an expert engine is a replacement engine, not 1915 cast block in march (03) or August (08) 1923 So much for the known perdigree of the parts The good points It looks like a brass era car to the untrained eye had hassler shocks on rear wooden wheels are nice no seen cracks they have not been painted the engine has electric start and starts right up on battery or on the 4th pull on hand crank Car runs strong and smooth the engine has good valves reads 40 psi or more on each cylinder this shows the engine may have worn rings but is reading the same on all cylinders showing good valves (See picture) the car drives smooth does not shimmy and brakes well mileage is estimated radiator does not leak and car does not over heat I added a factory rebuilt NH Carb from Mac’s (230 dollars) I added a deep cycle Marine 12 volt battery so it will run for many hours on battery alone without a recharge I added aoogha horn and new original new stock horn button (Snyders) Repairs , defects and modifications needed -lights need hooked up - generator not hooked up magnetos not tested for output yet - has aftermarket ignition key standard floor mounted starter -someone painted over the brass! Paint should be removed - body fenders etc are far from perfect all parts need sanded, bumps and dents repaired some cracks in fenders from pictures it appears on the drivers side someone added steel brackets for a tire mount I used it for a flag pole mount in a parade worked well Someone did a real amature paint job (yellow) with a paint brush! I would lightly sand all the body and fenders, fill in the small bumps with feathered bondo, spray 3 light coats of sanded primer and shoot it with black red or yellow myself and it will look like a different much improved car - engine starts and runs well It did not smoke when I got it but I changed oil using 5 w 20 w which appears too be too thin for the rings engine now smokes while running on start up rear tire carrier is home made on a spinning axle for kids to spin the tire like a ships wheel tires have good tread however someone PAINTED the white walls they are I believe not white walls Tires run well however if I was going to take it more than an hour from my house I would buy new tires (about 86 dollars each for blackwalls) to be on the safe side as under the paint it appears side walls of tires have cracked Parking brake ratchet face is worn. Needs notches filed down for paw to hold in very rear of parking brake. It will slip out at start allowing car to creep forwards Need to block a wheel if hand starting for safety car is set up as a distributor not original coil box. This is an “upgrade” modification (about 400 dollars) but it makes the car a non-purist Model T passenger door hinge sags no door closing latch on body rear tail light has crack in side lens naugha hide? Has some fleck spots on seat and a small amount of paint along the back tack down edge The steering wheel has small delamination at the tounge and groove All in all a fun car. It is a good car to have fun with and run as is or do the body work yourself with the kids and grand kids and have fun painting it what ever you desire. It will never be a concourse show winner but it will be a real fun head turner Included are the Model T Ford Maintenance repair manual (about everything you need to know to repair and trouble shoot a car) and some basic tools. (And the horned skull if you want to make it a Grapes of Wrath Model T) On Jul-10-11 at 10:24:29 PDT, seller added the following information: SAVE MONEY ON SHIPPING! uShip is the first and largest auction style marketplace for shipping and transportation services.
