Vehicle Detail
I have decided to sell my 1988 Wrangler. This is one tuff jeep. Everything has been done right. I didn’t do most of the modifications but the previous owner who did was a certified airplane mechanic. So you can be assured everything is top notch. Over $25,000 has been invested in this jeep. That doesn’t include any labor to do all the modifications or the original cost of the jeep. This jeep has about 9 inches of total lift. It is one of the badest looking jeeps around. Most of this jeep is all custom work to be set up to be a great wheeling jeep but also great to drive on the street. For the couple of years that I have owned it I have mostly taken it for Sunday drives with the family and have only gone wheelin with it a couple of times. It performs absolutely amazing off road. It drives just as great on the street as well. The jeep is in great condition. Here is the best description I can give for it. 304 V8. When this motor was rebuilt it was balanced with the flywheel, pressure plate and harmonic balancer installed. $3500 invested GM HEI Ignition I did this to get rid of the points ignition and was planning on converting it to fuel injection. This is one the things you need to do to that conversion. Cylinder heads ported, new guides, fresh grind on the heads. 5 Almost new 35x14.5x15 Nitto Mud Grapplers on classic Aluminum wheels. It has more then $2000 worth of rubber on it. Aluminum Be cool radiator with electric fan set up to keep the V8 cool. Most people when they put a V8 in a jeep just use the stock radiator which causes overheating problems. Not with this radiator. This set up cost around $1000. Edlebrock performer intake with Edlebrock four barrel carburetor. OX Cable operated locker up front Detroit Automatic Locker in the rear. These are some of the best lockers available. 4.56 Gears Superior chrome molly axe shafts front and rear. This is a great upgrade for the axles. You know you will not have any axles issues The lockers and axle kits cost almost $6000 alone. Fixed yoke eliminator kit with rear CV drive shaft. This fixes the only real weak point of the transfer case from the factory. 2 ½ old man emu springs on top of the spring over axle conversion. This gives you about 7.5 inches of suspension lift. The front axle was also sleeved with .250 wall tubing to give it extra strength. This jeep also has a 2 inch body lift. This gives you about 9.5 inches of total lift. To make the front steering geometry right this has a high steer kit which put the tie rods on the top side of the axle instead of below where the factory has it. It also has a new steering box with frame support and a flaming river deluxe steering shaft. This kit was $1500 and makes the jeep drive like it should on the road and keeps all the steering components safe off road. It has high performance adjustable ball joints to make the front axle even stronger. The interior has been lined with Linex. The stock roll cage was removed and the later style “family” roll cage was installed. This gives greater protection to the rear passengers. It has windshield mounted off road lights. Jensen CD Radio and Amp. You got have tunes! Yellow Top Optima Gel Battery Boomerang Rear Shackles Custom front and rear bumpers with swing out rear tire carrier that has a matching sized spare. Two inch drive train lift. This pushes the motor and drive train up in the body to give better ground clearance. It has Moore motor mounts. Belly up skid plate. This is one large skid plate that covers the whole bottom side of the jeep. It starts behind the front springs and starts just before the rear springs. This is also mounted flush to the bottom of the frame. This gives the jeep amazing ground clearance and would allow the drive train to slide over anything off road. The transmission has been upgraded to an AX-15 Transmission from a 2000 TJ Wrangler which is much stronger then the factory transmission for this year of Jeep. It also has hard top and full doors with roll up windows. I have a Best top for it and the entire framework but the top needs to be replaced. I always keep it parked in the garage so I take the hard top off in spring and put it back on in the winter. If you read off road magazines this is the correct way to customize and get serious performance to a jeep. You would be hard pressed to find a jeep that has these kinds of modifications to it and a jeep that is this nice. I hate to sell it but I just don’t use it as much as I would like to. There is no use in just letting something this awesome be a garage queen. Very Low Reserve!!! I would be interested in trading for TJ wrangler that has air conditioning, soft top, automatic transmission and a 4.0 six cylinder motor. I want a jeep that is more suited for evening and weekend cruising. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will have pictures posted later today. Note: The milage listed on the vehicle history report is not accuarte. On Jul-13-11 at 17:20:11 PDT, seller added the following information:Hi, I have had a couple of questions as to what the oil leak is on the front axle is. I checked what it is and the power steering pump has developed a leak out of the front seal. This is a quick and easy fix. For about $50 and 1 hour worth of time will take care of it. This leak just developed in the last couple of weeks. Good Luck bidding.
