Vehicle Detail

This Triumph TR3A is days away from being an absolutely fabulous driver. Here is the story: I purchased the car from a local man who has restored early Triumphs his whole life. He needed to get out of the car quickly and was unable to finish it. Honestly, I am not the handiest mechanic, but I figured since it was so close to complete I could bring it the rest of the way. As soon as I got it home I realized that to do anything less than a professional restoration would just bastardize the work this expert had already done. Unfortunately I didn't really have the extra cash to pay to have it done, so I tinkered and set the car aside for a few months, working on some small things that I knew I could do for sure. Unfortunately, now I find myself in a similar spot to the fellow I bought the car from. I am motivated to sell it because I need the money to put towards a major MG project I've taken on. This is what the car needs: Interior finishing: -One seat needs to be stuffed and covered correctly. -One door panel needs to be attached. -Seats need to have the tracks installed. -rear "seat" needs to be covered and stuffed. -Top needs to be attached to the frame. -One door handle needs to be attached. Mechanical: -Fluids -Fuel line needs to be installed from the pump to the carbs. -distributor needs to be installed. -needs a battery. -Carbs will likely need to be tuned. -Horn, lights and blinkers need to be wired in. All the wires are there and marked, they just need to be connected. Exterior: front bumper needs to be attached. Lights need to be wired in, wires are in place, they just need to be connected. All the under dash wiring is done. The fellow who restored the car most of the way did an excellent job at a very high level. I would characterize the car as just short of a concourse restoration. This is a car that could be shown with pride and would likely do well. The entire restoration was done with impeccable attention to originality. Every piece of metal on the car is original and all of it was in excellent shape when it was prepped for paint. This is not a car that had a lot of metal work done to it, I dont think you'll find hardly any bondo on the body anywhere. The left rocker was replaced, but besides that, nothing needed major repair or replacement. The transmission and the engine are both original to the car. The paint has beautiful shine to it, but it is fresh out of the paint shop and could use a final detail. A wet sand or machine polish would bring it from a 8 or 8.5 to a 9.5+. Just about every piece on the car that needed to be replaced was either rebuilt, replaced with OEM parts or, when needed, replaced with new parts. The only pieces needed to finish the restoration are the backing to the front grille and probably a new front bumper (the original is very serviceable, but there are minor imperfections in the chrome, see photo), and a battery. The tires are brand new. This car is probably better than it left the factory originally. I am selling the car without a reserve. I need to get rid of it in the next month so I can fund the next project. If I had more time I would finish it myself and if I had more money, I would keep it for myself. Unfortunately, I have neither and my loss is your gain. If you are handy this is the car for you, you can save a few thousand dollars off of a finished restoration and have the same, or better quality car in a matter of days. This car has absolutely nothing to hide. Every piece is photographed and there are a bunch of extra parts. I am including over 100 photos. Bid with confidence, there are no surprises here. I encourage anyone who is serious about the car to do an inspection in person, and I am confident you will find that my description and photos are truly representative of the true condition of the car. If you have any questions, or if you would like specific photos that are not there, give me a call or email and I will send them to you. My number is (401)965-6150. Shipping is buyers responsibility. Payment required in full within 5 days of auction close. Payment by bank wire, cashiers check or cash in person only. Thanks, and happy bidding!
