Vehicle Detail
INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION You are viewing my 1980 Chrysler Cordoba. I bought this car from the original owner in 2001 and it has 78,866 original miles as of the start of this auction. This Cordoba has its original 318 cu. in, (5.2L) V8 engine and three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. For a bit of history, this is the “J”-body Cordoba that was introduced in 1980. Prior to 1980, the Cordoba nameplate was on larger Chrysler “B” platform (the ones Ricardo Montalban pitched in the memorable late 1970’s TV commercials). The J-platform ran from 1980 to 1983 and included the Dodge Mirada models. This Cordoba is in reasonably good mechanical condition and runs and drives fine. I would not say it is suitable for everyday transportation given its age and despite its relatively low miles. But, if you wanted to have a good running, rust free "hobby" car to continue to improve on, this might be the one. It does not have many options, but these cars were relatively well-equipped to start with: tinted windows, air conditioning (not blowing cold air), power steering and power (front disc/rear drum) brakes to name a few standard features. But, the vehicle still has its original engine and transmission. The interior is original and a great shape, except the headliner is sagging. All electrical systems and gauges work fine. The vinyl roof is original and also in exceptional condition. All glass and chrome trim parts are in very good shape and consistent with the age of the vehicle. The tires are matching 215/70/15 radials that are virtually new and the wire wheel covers are in very good driver quality condition. This Cordoba had been repainted sometime in the past, however as shown in the photos the rear quarter extensions are brittle and damaged. Be advised please that it is difficult to find these extensions used, unless you already have a set. This 1980 Cordoba is a decent looking and running, rust-free remaining example of the first year of the J-body Cordoba. The J-body Chrysler Cordoba still enjoys a loyal following among a dedicated group of current and former owners. I sure hope this car finds a new home with an owner who take the “slow, steady, low cost” way to preserve and build on it from a good starting point. AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONS I am selling this 1980 Chrysler Cordoba at no reserve. Please consider bidding during the auction to the extent and level you deem appropriate and based on whatever factors are important to you. I will not end the auction early unless there is a local sale. As such, please note that I reserve the right to end this auction early at my sole discretion. I appreciate anyone's legitimate interest in my auction so I am sorry in advance for the following. First, given the unfortunate frequency of non-paying and/or unresponsive bidders, please DO NOT BID AT ALL if you do not have any required financing, insurance, storage, customs and duties information, spouse's permission ... whatever it is you need ... IN PLACE to allow you to honor your recorded bid. Second, bidders with less than 5 (five) feedbacks will have their bids immediately canceled and then blocked from further bidding for the duration of the auction, unless you contact me in advance of bidding. Third, bidders outside North America (anywhere other than the US, Canada, or Mexico “mainland”) are welcome to bid, but also must email me before bidding please. INSPECTION AND WARRANTY INFORMATION Any and all relevant and appropriate questions you submit while the auction is running will be answered promptly and as thoroughly as possible by email only. Again, given that this is a used vehicle please do not have unreasonable expectations as to its current condition or future condition under your ownership. Your bid forms the basis for a binding, legally enforceable contract. As such, if you require it, please make all pre-purchase inspections (at the sole expense of the bidder) before committing to purchase the car. Inspections can be done by appointment only by you or your designated inspection service. Although I believe I have described and depicted (with numerous high-resolution photographs) this vehicle accurately, please note that this vehicle is sold "as-is, where-is” with no express or implied warranties or guarantees of any kind. PAYMENT AND STORAGE A $250 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle. I will not be accepting trades of any kind. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cash or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank). Clear title in my name is in hand and vehicle can be scheduled for buyer pickup by appointment at anytime after full payment is received and cleared. I can hold the vehicle in indoor storage for 15 days (or longer, if weather or other uncontrollable factors emerge) at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days). Thank you for viewing my auction.
