VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is One very sharp and quite exceptional 1959 elCamino that has been refinished in Frost Blue Metallic with a Snowcrest White Roof and Side Spears. These are correct stock colors for '59 and they look stunning on this iconic vehicle with its dramatic lines. This is a very solid car that rides, drives and runs excellent. And its tons of fun to drive with its great running, great sounding 283 cube 4 barrel and 4 speed, Hurst Shifted Muncie Transmission and Wildwood Disc Brakes. A Body on Frame restoration was completed on this car and has turned out very nice. It was done with superb attention to detail by the owner and builder who has spent thousands of countless hours and with unlimited patience to complete this stunning '59 elCamino. These cars are very complex when It comes to Body Design and engineering and between the compound curved glass and body panels along with its incredible Flight Wing Styled Lateral Fins "Chevy had it all" and it was at the forefront of Automotive design. It was pretty much a show stopper then and it's a show stopper Today! Now with that being said this car was not built to be a Trailer Queen or Show Car, it was built with the idea to be fun to drive and be able to be reliably driven anywhere and in comfort especially with its LusciousTri-Color Impala Interior in Blue. Everything works on this car, including all accessories right down to the emergency brake warning lamp and that includes All Gauges, Lamps and Lights, Turn Signals, Wipers, Lighter, Radio, Gauges, Heater, etc. It all works! All lock cylinders have been keyed alike for added convenience. All panels and doors line up very well but there are some light scratches and dings and a few other issues on the paint and trim that was a direct result of some brush, branches and limbs to rub up against and also to be blown on to the car while the owner was away one day. Luckily there was a car cover on the car that provided a great deal of protection but there is an area above the right front wheel that you can see in the right light. This Bright Metallic Blue Paint pretty much washes out any imperfections in the light making them hard to see. There is a slight impression on the roof (about 3 inches long and almost impossible to see) as well several small scratches and about three pellet size dings on the aluminum and stainless trim. The only other issues are some small spots that should rub out that appears to maybe have been tree sap and the Front Bumper that has some peeling and should be re-chromed. The front and rear floor panels were replaced using high quality OEM replacement parts. The rear valance was repaired and some filler exists in that repair as well as the bottoms of the rear quarters that also had some repairs. On the Inside or underside of all panels, access panels, fenders, doors and quarter panels were cleaned, sealed and rustproofed. All efforts have been made to keep this elCamino All GM where possible. Every part on this car that was removed was either dis-assembled, cleaned, rebuilt, refurbished, renewed or replaced using Genuine Parts that have been either renewed or restored if not NOS and not any kind of inferior mis-manufactured replacement or imported parts that are on the market today were used. THE INTERIOR has been completely redone and upgraded to the Custom Tri-Color Impala Interior including the Firewall Pad and completely rebuilt seats including the seat frames and spring assemblies that have been refurbished as well. The dash and all gauges have been restored; they all work great and look just incredible. The Interior features are definitely a Highlight of this car right down to the '59 Corvette Seatbelts and Beautiful Impala Steering Wheel. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION: This elCamino is equipped with a 283 cid 4bbl WAFB engine that runs great, idles smooth, doesn't smoke or run hot and is actually very economical. It can sit and idle or purr like a kitten all day long. This is coupled to a M20 Four Speed Muncie Transmission and Hurst Shifter that is correct for this application and has the proper curve and angle to work with the Bench seat. The Clutch Assembly, U-Joints and Axle Bearings are new as well. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES:All new front and rear suspension including New Shocks, Springs, Monroe Load Levelers,Hotchkiss Sway Bar, Rear Drums, Shoes, All Brake Lines, Wheel Cylinders and Corvette Style Master Cylinder. The Emergency Brake system is completely new as well as th e Wilwood Disc Brake System up front. All power steering components are completely new and include the #605 box. WHEELS AND TIRES: 15 inch Chevrolet Rally Wheels with New Chrome trim Rings and Center Caps. The tires are Mohave RS 225 and 235 -75 series with a narrow white wall. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Completely new electrical system consisting of six stock reproduction wiring harnesses that includes all new connectors, lamp sockets and fuse block. On Jun-15-11 at 06:01:30 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I was playing beat the clock and didn’t get to say about what the car comes with which is all of its service manuals and supplements, owners manual, its build book which houses all of the receipts numerous brochures paint charts, promotional materials, ad's and a nice little book called "The Chevrolet Story 1911-1959". Also included will be the Replica 1/24th scale model as shown in the pictures. Also I didn’t mention that the wipers at some point made a couple surface scratches on the windshield, this happened sometime before we got the car and should polish out. There is no other damage to the windshield, The rear glass (backlight} is brand new as well as the gasket and was installed properly using the procedures in the official Chevrolet Service Manual.
