Vehicle Detail
Exceptionally low miles 33,000, 1980 Honda Civic 1500DX with Hondamatic 2-speed automatic transmission! I am selling my collection of second generation Civics and this one is a fantastic find with very low original miles! Unfortunately Carfax and Autocheck by Experian do not run title checks for cars older than 1981 but everything on this car is consistent with this low mileage. Features: - 33,000 original miles - Clear title in hand in my name - Excellent running condition - Excellent interior almost like new - Original body and paint, no accidents or body work - No air conditioning - Original working great Honda radio - VIN nr is SRD1042642 History: I purchased this car in August of 2010 from Washington state, had it shipped to TN and drove it very little since then. I have the owner's manual which I believe is original owner's and receipts from previous owner indicating spark plugs, rear brakes and muffler were replaced. The only thing I had done is replace the water pump (because the pulley was making noise and not due to any cooling issues). No other work was necessary. The car runs and drives very well with no major issues. Engine is very strong, there are no leaks, no exhaust smoke, etc. I have not driven the car long enough to see if it uses any oil but I don't think so at 33k miles. You'll have to rev it up a few times when starting cold but afterwards runs fine. It has a carburetor and these do need to be cleaned and/or refreshed from time to time. Transmission is two speed automatic (I believe this is the Hondamatic transmission) and shifts very well. Tires are almost new, shocks and brakes are good. All glass is good except for a small stone crack on left front windshield (seen in pictures). Interior is almost like new, dashboard, headboard, door panels and seats are close to new. Even the grain on the steering wheel appears new. The plastic pieces show some sun fading but there are no cracks. The carpet also has sun fading and a bit of wear most visible in the trunk area. All switches and controls work well. The exterior shows quite well, paint appears original. The original color is a rich red-brown which is visible in the pictures of the inside of engine bay and inside the doors. The paint exposed to the sun has oxidized and appears more of a metalic copper color which I find a lot more beautiful than the original color. There are a few superficial rust spots, the worst is visible on the left rear hatch lid just near the rear windshield (see picture). There a few other superficial spots (all appear very superficial and very easily repairable. See pictures, I've captured the most obvious ones. Similar picture underneath the car with nothing major I can see except for oxidation and superficial corrosion of exhaust and exposed metal parts (see engine compartment). There are no exhaust leaks and car passed smog here first time. Cooling, all electrics and switches work fine. Car runs very well and needs nothing right now to drive away. There is no air conditioning on this car. Heat and fan work well. Front seats slide forward if needed and both front and rear seats tilt forward and trunk area is quite large. Title is clear and in my name. Ask any questions BEFORE YOU PLACE A BID and satisfy yourself with car and its condition BEFORE YOU BID, since bidding is a binding obligation that you have to complete. Since I am clearing my collection of second generation Honda civics, I will include for free a couple of parts I've acquired as well as the 1980 original shop repair manual, two keys, original owner's manual and two new (dusty but never used) 12 inch steel rims. The tool set and spare are in the trunk but I don't have a jack. Ask any questions you have, it's possible I've missed something and it's not possible to check every loose screw on the car but I think I've covered most of it. You are welcome to see the car in person and test drive it locally. I initially thought of placing a Buy it Now option but I've decided to run the auction through and see what the market will pay. There is no reserve on this auction and highest bid wins the car. I will assist with shipping (eg I will make myself available to the shipper), I will overnight title, receipts and owners manual and one key to you after payment (if shipping the car); one key goes with the shipper. Do not bid unless you are serious and intend to complete the transaction and have the funds ready. I ask for a Paypal deposit immediately after the auction with balance payable by cash or cashiers check within 7 days (and you must pick up car or ship car within 7 days unless you've made arrangements with me otherwise). No personal checks, no trades, etc. Thank you for viewing my auction and good luck with your bid! Addendum Tuesday June 14th, 12 noon: I added two more pics of the rear seat (two seat belts) and trunk area with rear seat folded down. The VIN is accurate it's just that none of the known agencies such as Carfax, Auto check run reports on cars older than 1981. Check for yourself and look at all Ebay cars older then 1981; none have history reports. I truly believe the miles are accurate, the odometer rolls over at 99,999 in these cars so the other alternative is that car has 132k or 232k etc or that the odometer has been tampered with. There is nothing looking at this car to suggest anything more than 33k miles. The engine compartment has obvious surface oxidation from over 30 years age and air moisture but engine bay paint looks new, engine looks new eg timing belt cover is almost like new, labels on most engine bay parts are still shiny and very clearly visible, etc. It looks like a new engine and new body minus the surface oxidation. Same can be said for all other parts of the car, eg body has almost no dings, is really straight - you can't have this with 132,000 miles! Interior is extremely well preserved, the headliner looks new minus a few markings but it is not roasted, weakened, sagging etc. Interior paint visible also looks new, seats, dash, etc everything looks like a 33k miles car! Steering wheel grains are preserved, control switches also look barely used. There is some expected fading on the exposed plastic parts inside mostly seen as color fading out (eg on shifter boot, rear shock towers, carpet and dashboard vent inserts). The receipts I have from the previous owner show rear brakes were replaced in 1998 at 26,842 miles and muffler replaced in 2004 at 27,393 miles so all of this is consistent with this mileage. I purchased this about a year ago and previous owner told me he purchased car from a little old lady (I think her name is probably the name on the owner's manual) who drove car to the grocery store and back which would explain the low mileage. I have copies of the previous title and of my Ebay transaction/description when I purchased it. If you need more specific pictures, you need to include your email address in your message since I cannot reply back with pictures in the Ebay email system (eg cannot attach pictures when replying through Ebay). Thank you for your interest, this is an awesome second generation Honda Civic with such low mileage I have not seen on Ebay in the last several years!!! If you are looking for one of these second generation Civics, do no miss out, I doubt you'll find another one like this!
