Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1966 Pontiac Starchief Executive Four door sedan. It has a 389 cubic inch engine with a two barrel carburetor. The engine # is 614228 with a YD code. From my research the engine puts out 290 horsepower and 418 foot pounds of torque. The engine was bored 30 over when it was rebuilt. New rod and main bearings, double roller timing chain and new high pressure oil pump. It holds 60 pounds oil pressure. It has a turbo 400 transmission also rebuilt by my trans guy. Nice firm shifts when cruising but she will bark second gear when you stomp on it. If you don't get into it she will get 18 MPH on the highway. This car is a pleasure to drive, straight down the road, smooth and power full. It also has power steering, power brakes and factory air conditioning. The AC stopped working over the winter. It is probably low on freon. The blower motor is not working, needs a blower motor relay which is mounted on the fire wall next to the starter relay. It also has a single exhaust with a Flow master muffler. It sounds excellent. Very throaty. All lights work except the rear turn signals. Needs a switch in the column. I also installed a 300 volt headlight relay that keeps the light switch cool so you can run high beams all night long. New radiator, four core and clutch fan last year. You can't make this car over heat. You can try but you can't. Sitting in traffic with the air on in gear, no problem. The rear main leaks a little if you let it sit for more than a couple days. The front sway bar is from PST and is 1 1/8 in diameter. The car corners flat as a pancake. The rest of the suspension has been rebuilt and is in good condition except lower ball joints. I replaced them once so it's just a bolt on job. New springs front and rear are three years old. Brakes are good, tires fair. New power brake booster and master cylinder last year. All brake lines replaced in 2006. BODY; Mechanically this car is in great shape. However it needs paint bad. It was painted six years ago when I bought it, base - clear coat. It looked super good but most of the clear is gone and the paint is starting to disappear. It also has a few dents but nothing major. I'll go thru the panels one at a time. ROOF; The roof is straight but has three 1/8 drill holes where the taxi light was attached and the wire feed was. SAIL PANELS; The passengers side is fine but the drivers side by the drip rail has a three inch by one inch area that needs attention. HOOD; The hood is in perfect shape, no dents. It has a few stone chips in the paint. TRUNK LID; The trunk lid is in great shape except where the Pontiac emblem is. There is rust under the emblem and now has a small rust hole. ROCKER PANELS; The rocker panels inside and out are like brand new on both sides. FRONT DRIVERS DOOR ; Solid. It has a dent below the mirror and the trim is dented. There is also a three inch rust bubble on the bottom front by the rocker panel. FRONT PASS DOOR; No damage at all. LEFT REAR DOOR; No damage. RIGHT REAR DOOR; Right under the door handle is an area that is bent in a little along with the trim. This is not that bad. The outer door sheet medal is dented but not the edge. LEFT FENDER; Straight as an arrow. Has two silver dollar sized rust spots and on the bottom some of the old body work is starting to show. RIGHT FENDER; The fender is straight but has deep surface rust on one area. Check the photos out and you will see it. The area is not rusted thru. LEFT QUARTER PANEL; No damage. The lower part has been primered and has a couple small bubbles. RIGHT QUARTER PANEL; From the stainless trim up is perfect. From the trim down will need a little medal massage to get it back in shape. Also the very bottom of the quarter panel and the dogleg will need some work. Again, it's not that bad. FRONT BUMPER; The front bumper has never been hit. It's perfectly straight. It has pretty good chrome and shins up real good. It only has one spot that has rust maybe the size of a quarter. A few other small spots are on the bottom and can hardly be seen. Over all, nice. REAR BUMPER; The rear bumper has two dents and is not straight. It also has some chrome missing on the left side and a little rust on the top of the right side. PANEL BETWEEN TAIL LIGHTS; This panel is dented on the left side of the lock. Trunk lock works fine. GAS TANK; Plan on replacing the fuel tank because it is “seeping” a little where the right strap is. It is not dripping, just seeping a little. All the glass is good but the front windshield has some “hazing” around the edges from where moisture has entered. The rear windshield is new. The top of the front windshield leaks on the passenger side. I haven't had time to put sealer on it. All the windows roll up and down. The interior is doable. The dash pad is cracked but other than that the dash looks excellent! The headliner stitching is coming apart here and there. It's not hanging down. The rear seat is in good condition, but the springs are weak. The front seat needs new upholstering. I replaced the carpet but what I got was junk. It was supposed to be “molded” but it was not. The back package tray needs to be replaced. The arm rests are not very good but the door panels are in very good condition . They just need cleaning. The frame is solid. Floor pans are fine. Trunk floor is good also. There is one spot that was repaired and needs it again. If the auction goes over 3,000.00 I will fix the trunk area that is bad for the buyer. I have clear title. This car can be inspected any time if anyone wants to see it. It passed Maryland State Inspection March 2010 and Maryland inspection is the hardest to pass in the country. All service records go with the car. I am asking a measly 600.00 for the car and with no reserve it will be sold to the highest bidder. WHY AM I SELLING? BELIEVE ME I DON'T WANT TO LET THIS ONE GO. BUT DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS I HAVE NO CHOICE. TO MANY CARS, NOT ENOUGH TIME. THIS CAR IS NOT A PROJECT CAR. It needs some body work and a paint job. I will need a 500.00 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of the auction close and the balance when you pick up the car. The car needs to be picked up within 14 days unless otherwise agreed to. Any questions please call me at 410-600-5037 or 443-497-3721. Thanks, Ray. This car is ready to roll. You can fly in and drive it home. Make sure you bring a tag for it. I have 8 vehicles that need to go. All cars are in the 50's and 60's. Some I am parting out, others are complete. Here are some others. 1964 Galaxie 500, totaled by a tourist. 1953 Packard, engine trans, power steering etc, every thing but the body. 1965 Corvair 4 door hardtop with factory air. 1959 Buick Lesabre 4 door hard top.
