Vehicle Detail
This is a real barn find. Dr. Wetzel who bought the car new in 1969, put the car in a barn on his property in 1992. He put it on jack stands and put some screen wire in the tail pipe to keep out the rodents. He pulled the plugs, put some anti-sieze on them. That was in 1992, the plates say Dart 69 and were purchased in 1992, the last time it was licensed. Fast forward 19 years, he got older and passed away, the car still in the barn. His daughter, a friend of mine, inherited the car. I went with her husband to retrieve the car. There it was on jack stands, stuff piled everywhwere. Fortunately, by being on jack stands, the old whitewall Michelin tires still looked like new and still inflated. We dug it out and hauled it home. Now about the car: This is a 1969 Dodge Dart GT-6 Convertible. It is a documented one owner with 65,317 documented miles(not an odometer rollover). It was bought new by Dr. Wetzel of Springfield, MIssouri. and was purchased from Grisham-Bruer Chrysler in Branson, Missouri. It has these original documents, Original-window sticker, Owners manual and packet, Purchase order, Pink slip, plus several other pink slips and inspections. I have a stack of receipts that document the mileage from decade to decade with miles and dates. We put a battery in it to check out the electrics, everything works, heater, A/C, lights, power top. Even the Craig under the dash cassette player with a Pete Fountains Greatest Hits tape we found in the glove box. The interior has the vintage storage aroma. The drivers seat has a couple of splits as seen in the photo. It has a bench seat. The convertible top appears to be the original, it is in decent condition, no rips or tears and the power assist works good. It does have the original top boot still in the wrapper, never been opened. The trunk has 2 trunk mats for some reason, it also has the original Goodyear bias ply spare and original jack. The trunk is rust free and has a semi transparent ming protectant sprayed over it, I have the ming receipt. In the trunk are the 4 original hub caps. The wheels on the car are Dayton Wire Wheels. I have the receipt. The car is yellow with a black top and interior. I have a receipt showing that in 1978 the car was repainted. The paint job is typical of the era at a local body shop. I would call it amateurish work. However, the paint will sand and buff if you prefer it to be shinier. Here is the best part, I cannot find any rust any where. The original chrome and trim are in nice condition as is all the glass. The A/C is hang down, so is the Craig CD player, also has after market cruise control. Major options include Automatic, 6 cylinder, A/C, cruise, Power steering, Power brakes. Should make a good highway cruiser. All gauges work. I like to leave Barn Finds alone, but I did a few little things. I put in a battery, pulled the gross fuel tank and had it boiled and sealed, cleaned the rest of the fuel system. It starts and runs. The motor sounds great, transmission feels good, but it will require a carb kit or new carb. It runs real rough, it cannot be driven at this point but you can hear it run. In summary, this is a rust free, low mileage, fully documented, one owner 1969 Dodge Dart GT-6 Convertible with a wonderful story. I'm sure I missed something, so if you have any questions, call me and I will walk around the car and answer all questions. I am available after 10:00 a.m. most every day and I will return messages, my phone is 1-417-865-4124. A $100.00 deposit is required, and the remainder paid on or before delivery. I require cash or bank wire transfer. Buyer to pay shipping charges, I will assist in getting the car loaded. THE WINDOW STICKER READS: GRISHAM-BRUER MOTORS BRANSON, MO. There is also a small spot down low on the left rear quarter. These, are what I consider very minor spots. I looked all over and this is all I can find. If you need to see pictures, email and I will send them.On Jun-11-11 at 20:35:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention about the top. There are 2, 6" factory seams above the rear glass that the Dr. put a bead of black silicome on the seams. They are not raised and show no signs that they ever had a problem, also above the latches there is a spot, dime size, of silicone on each side that may be covering a pin hole. I would post pictures but ebay says I am maxed out on my pics. You have to remember, this car belonged to an old man, and they do alot of funky things that they believe are helping when sometimes they are not. I am trying to represent the car correctly. I really did not want to write manifest about this car, I was hoping that you would call me and I could tell you everything you need to know over the phone.
