Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a '92 Corvette. Yes, this car was made almost 20 years ago, and right here in the U.S.A. I really hate to sell it, but due to a recent bout with cancer, I've got some medical bills to take care of. I've owned the car since Feb. of '10, just a little over a year. From what I remember finding out about this car before I took ownership of it, the last 5 years saw 8 thousand miles. I bought it for a daily driver, always had wanted one, didn't care what year or color. The opportunity finally came for me to own my dream car, and I jumped right into it. Unfortunately, cars don't hold up well when they sit, unused. within the first week of ownership, a head gasket blew. That didn't stop me, though a somewhat major ordeal, this was my dream car, took care of it right away, using high quality fel-pro head gaskets. Of course the heads were cleaned nicely, the pistons looked great, as did the cylinder walls. New spark plugs and wires went along with that job. Within the next month, it seen a new starter, water pump, all aluminum radiator, MAP sensor, and a used low mileage alternator from a Roadmaster. That was totally by choice, as the Roadmaster had a higher amperage rating than the 'Vette, and thought that'd be the way to go. The car came with an after-market stereo, figured I'd add a medium sized amplifier and some nice speakers.(the reason for my choice of a higher amperage alternator) In the rear, there's a nice pair of Polk Audio component speakers, not sure what brand is in the front, as someone had been there long before me. This car runs great, starts right up every time, has a nice shifting automatic trans in it that is not original. I do have the original one, in need of a re-build, and can have a truck line drop it to you,or I can have it cleaned good enough to plastic wrap it and put it in the hatch. Don't want to leave out that I did have Flowmaster mufflers installed, and kept the factory tips on the car. It was pretty silent before, people had no idea you were next to them on the highway. With the new Flowmasters installed, they stopped swerving at me, as they could hear me now! This car does drive pretty darn easy, much more comfy than I expected. This car is equipped with A/C, but currently doesn't blow cold. I did try to charge it, but it didn't seem to take. With the compressor jumped, it blew cold. I know very little about car A/C systems. Last I checked, which was last season, the system was holding pressure. I may or may not mess with it within the next few days. As far as gas mileage goes, if you put this baby on cruise, you can expect 30 or so mpg on the highway. last time i hit the re-set button, it was 32mpg for about an 8 mile stretch @ 65mph. I believe the gear ratio is a low 2:59, so highway speed in overdrive is about 1500 - 1700 rpm's. The low gears of course don't make it a quarter mile screamer, but no matter what, you still get up and move pretty fast. As far as the interior goes, it"s pretty much all there. The carpet does show some signs of wear, it is, after all, a 20 year old car. The seats aren't perfect, took pics to demonstrate. The big split in the bottom of the passenger side seat I had the pleasure of making happen...I'm a firm believer in warming up a car before you drive it, and on that day, it was about zero outside. I opened the passenger door (because it was closer to me), stuck my knee in the seat to reach the key into the ignition, and I heard it split. The targa top inside has custom paint work, I liked it, so I didn't take any actions to remove it. It's also pretty easy to remove, and you can slide it right into the hatch area. Please, ask any and all questions. The last thing I want to do is mis-represent anything. This car can be driven anywhere, at any time. This car is very reliable, and the only thing I could think of that may need attention soon would be front brake rotors. I checked the pads today, there's plenty of meat left on them. My brother balanced the rear tires a few months ago, and told me the rear pads are wearing thin. I did buy new brakes for the rear, but never heard the low wear indicators yet, so they'll go with the car, new in the box. The power antenna is indeed power, but human power. I do have another, but it came from an '84, looks to be different. It did work when i first got the car, might be a fuse? I dunno. The grommet where the antenna meets the car is gone. Again, I'm confident you can drive this car across the country with no problems. The transmission fluid and filter was changed a few months ago as well. The car does not leak that I've ever noticed. Some people will say there car is a 20 footer, I'd say this is about a 5. Paint shines like crazy, and I've never given it a good detailing, I'm sure it will shine even more. I use a better grade of car wash soap. On Jun-06-11 at 10:41:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to add there are a few imperfections in the paint, but nothing that stands out too much. I did take nice full size pictures that, according to the way I added them to the listing, they are able to be super-sized and zoomed in on. If there are any areas in particular that these chosen photos do not show well, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to either email them or add them to the auction. Again, I want the winning bidder to be happy with their purchase. On Jun-06-11 at 10:47:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I do have the covers for the fuel injectors that run the length of the valve covers that have the Corvette emblems on them, as well as the plastic cover for the ASR (traction control) box. It will also come with a spare coil/ignition module, as well as a spare throttle cable. On Jun-06-11 at 19:15:23 PDT, seller added the following information: update: The A/C works!!! I checked the pressure in the system, and it was full. I bought a multi-meter to try to do some checking. I wiggled the plug, and the compressor clutch kicked right on, and started getting cool. Maybe the terminals in the plug need to be cleaned, or maybe there's a short very near the plug in. couldnt be too far away from the plug. I made 2 videos, one is of the compressor and it kicking on and off while i lifted or pushed the connector, and the other is of it running. The video of it running, i let it idle, rev'ed it up a little bit, then to 3500 rpm's, then idle, then put it in drive while at idle, then park, then off. after i did the video of the compressor, i drove it for about 20 minutes, and it got cool and stayed cool with the a/c blowing. please watch videos. also you will notice how clear the exhaust is. please copy and paste, i don't know how to insert these to where you can just click on them. video of it starting/running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR_vDbvlVCA video of the a/c compressor and me wiggling the connector: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylCYJ0BRViI well, i see somehow the second link shows up as a link...i dunnno, but please watch. thanks. On Jun-10-11 at 13:47:52 PDT, seller added the following information: **New rear brakes installed todayOn Jun-13-11 at 16:06:58 PDT, seller added the following information: There is 1 tiny chip in the windshield, but it is not the type that spreads. It has been there since I bought the car over a year ago. If I find the time, I will have it repaired. If not, no worries, it will not spread. The stereo has an aux input in the front for an ipod type headphone jack plug, as well as a memory card slot, and a USB stick slot to put music on. Please feel free to ask any and all questions.
