Vehicle Detail

For Sale is a very well preserved 1986 Mercedes Benz 420 SEL. The car was manufactured on 3/86 and has been lovingly cared for ever since. I am the 3rd owner and have had the car approximately 4 years. I purchased it from it's 85 year old owner who no longer could maneuver it. It had 128,000 on the clock when I bought it and, as of this writing, it has 150, 900+, so you can see in 4 years it has not been exposed to much road travel. The car is finished in champagne gold with brown upholstery. The dash, headliner, door panels and carpet are all in excellent considtion. The rear seat and passenger seat appear as new. The only real wear to be found is in the drivers seat back, which does show some wear and cracking on the seams. A new perforated panel would complete the amazingly well preserved state of this cabin. The wood shows well, with minimal fading of some of the upper pieces. All 420's were well equipped in their day, but this one is a rare bird boasting very uncommonly found options. This car came equipped with front heated seats and the even rarer orthopedic seat options for the front 2 seats. The car also boasts newer, 1990's chrome style wheels, a nice and costly upgrade. The paint is close to flawless, but not perfect. Upon very close inpsection, there are several fine scratches here and there, but so small the camera cannot capture them well. I routinely wax the car with Meguiars by hand, so it has retained its "as new" appearance. Almost everything works on the car and does so quite well. Among the few that does not would be the clock and the cassette tape player on the original becker radio. I had a new power antenna installed which works flawlessly. The car has received numerous mechanical improvements, not the least of which is a complete top engine rebuild. All new cams and rocker arms for a total of $2351. Aiidtionally the car has all new brake pads, rear calipers and resurfaced rotors. It has a new fuel pump, new front tires, new fuel distributor and filter and a new tune up. Work totalling over $3500 in the past year and half alone! The car runs very well as a result and these days mostly sits in the garage as I drive my 300 ce on a daily basis. Also lncuded are the original books, records from my ownership (none exist form before) and even the original window sticker, a copy of which I have pictured here. 2 keys and a clear title. Reg paid up in California till July. An excellent, relatively low mile survivor that has been always garaged. Please ask any and all questions PRIOR to submitting your offers. Car is in very good original condition, but it is 25 years old. It has not been restored but rather well maintained, so expectations should be commensurate with that.
