Vehicle Detail

GENERAL: This is a "gray market" import car with a North Carolina (USA) title. It was legally imported to the U.S. in the eighties and was driven daily until it was stored in South Carolina in 2000 for safe keeping. It ran when it was parked and the engine is currently "free" BUT it has not run been started in about ten years. I am NOT a car dealer but I am helping a friend sell this car. BODY: There is no cancer rust on the body at all and the paint is presentable as it stands. With some buffing and touch-up, it could be pretty nice. Body restoration would be a breeze if the new owner wanted to have a good solid, rust-free car. The headlamps had to be changed to U.S. spec. but the right front side marker light is broken. The bumpers are of the more desirable European design but the right side of the front bumper is bent. A good bumper shop would most likely have little trouble straightening it. INTERIOR: I believe all of the interior trim pieces are there but the console wood needs to be redone and a few other small pieces may be missing. The seats and door panels are in very nice condition, as is the headliner on the removable hardtop. The convertible top is present but it hasn't been out in years so we can't vouch for its conditon. ENGINE & POWER TRAIN: The engine is "Free", as in, turns over freely, because it was "put up" properly when put into storage. The fuel system will obviously need to be cleaned and serviced and the fuel pump will likely need to be replaced. The car was driven daily to and from work and did not use any oil at that time. The transmission shifted smoothly and the differential was quiet. Currently, the hydraulic clutch actuating system works, as do the brakes. The brake rotors and rubber hoses will have to be replaced from sitting, however. INSPECTION: Persons interested in bidding on this car are welcome to, and encouraged to inspect it at its current location and/or have an inspector of their choosing look the car over at their expense. A two-post lift MAY be available for inspection if an appointment is made in advance. The last thing I want to do is misrepresent this car, so as with any used vehicle, inspection is strongly advised. WARRANY & TRANSPORTATION: Of course there is NO WARRANTY expressed or implied and the winning bidder will be responsible for transporation of the car from its location in Raleigh, NC. PAYMENT & REMOVAL: A deposit of $300 is due within 10 days of the close of the auction and the car should be removed with 30 days of the close of the auction. Unless other arrangements are agreed to by the seller, the car should be totally paid for and removed from my premises within 30 days of the close of the auction or all deposit monies will be forfieted by the buyer.
