Vehicle Detail
1991 Eagle Talon AWD Tsi - NO RESERVE! I am the 3rd owner of this car and have had her for about ten years. About 5,000 miles on a completely rebuilt engine that has the highly sought after 4G63T block. The compression in one cylinder was half of normal spec, and given that it was nearing 160K miles I decided to rebuild the engine. This is the 4th engine my father and I have rebuilt and the 3rd Mitsubishi. Despite our prior experience we had professionals perform inspections during the build and also had them do the startup. Every part on the engine down to the bolts, nuts, and washers were cleaned and inspected. Many parts, listed below, were replaced with stock or better parts. The block was dipped and honed. The head was professionally inspected and tested, and determined to be in excellent condition. and was therefore re-conditioned (new seals, etc.) rather than completely rebuilt. Other than a new genuine Mitsubishi Big 16G Turbo and a JVT Racing high-flow aluminum radiator the rebuild was stock. We debated upgrading the pistons, rods and crank, but decided that our choices might not be the same as someone else's, so we'd let the next owner build to their preferences. A lot of time and money has gone into this car recently. I often get comments (and offers!) while I'm out with it. But life has changed and it's finally time to sell her. Had to buy a 4-door family car. :-) New: Pistons, rings, and bearings Genuine Mitsubishi Big 16G Turbo (original turbo pictured below and included!) Throttle body JVT Racing aluminum radiator with high-performance hoses Clutch Oil pump Water pump Timing belt Stock hatch struts Upper and lower motor mounts Plug wires I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting, but the bottom line is that mechanically it would be difficult to find a better motor. I've used Redline motor oil, gear oil, and power steering fluids. There is one bulb out in the front passenger parking light assembly, and while the automatic window on the passenger side works, sometimes it is a little (and I mean a little) slow going up/down. The defroster/fogger strips on the rear window don't work. If I kept her I would likely replace the front springs. The front feels mushy to me, though I only notice if I go over a decent sized speed bump. But when I took it in to have the struts and/or springs replaced, I was told that it wasn't necessary. Maybe my preference is just for stiffer suspension. Cruise control, front/rear wipers and window washers work. I don't know of anything I haven't mentioned that doesn't work. Tires, rotors, brake pads are all in great shape. There isn't anything that this car needs. It is fun and reliable transportation. There's a small scrape on the front and rear bumpers (they're small but you can see in the pictures if you look closely), and a couple of minor door dings. The trim around the windows is somewhat oxidized but looks good when you apply ArmorAll. The last owner painted the thin rubber seal at the bottom of the driver and passenger windows, and the paint has some cracks (the seals are easy to replace, I just haven't done it). What I just mentioned is hardly noticeable unless you're really close to the car. I tried to get them to come out in the pictures, but couldn't. The drivers seat has a nice lamb cover on it because the seat has some tears. There's also a scratch in the window tint on rear window (can see in picture - again, if you look close!) Also comes with/has: 7-Year Sears Die Hard battery Extra set of rims (presently painted white - great shape with no dents - pictured) Original turbo charger (pictured - this is in addition to the Mitsubishi Big 16G that is installed on the motor) Genuine Mechanics Shop Manuals, along with Haynes and Chilton manuals Original AM/FM cassette player and amplifier (pictured) Stereo is a Pioneer DEH-P580MPAM/FM/CD/MP3 player along with Alpine front door, separate Alpine tweeters in the front dash, and Cerwin-Vega 6x9s in the rear. Viper 350HV alarm system Car cover VDO turbo guage A few misc. parts The car has never been on a track, and I'm not a tuner, so I can't give you times or performance numbers. If there are any questions I will be happy to answer them, and if you are able to be in Tampa I encourage you to view the car. Bid with confidence as you can see my feedback rating, and this is the third car I have sold or bought via eBay. *** NO RESERVE! THE CAR WILL BE SOLD THROUGH THIS AUCTION! WILL NOT END EARLY! *** Shipping Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping. I will be happy to assist by driving the car to the airport, meeting halfway, or possibly even delivering with estimated delivery and return travel expenses (gas, food, lodging, bus/air fare) paid in advance. Please contact me in advance before bidding if this is critical to making the purchase. On May-30-11 at 10:21:29 PDT, seller added the following information: All belts, oil hoses, water hoses, and gaskets were replaced during the rebuild. Rotors, brake pads, and tires were all replaced between 5-10K miles ago. The exhaust was also replaced a few years ago and sounds great (I think!) Mechanically this car needs nothing, not even an oil change. At most adjust/tune to your preferences. She could be a daily-driver as is, or provide very solid platform on which to do some high-performance upgrades. A/C blows strong and cold. The heater works properly, but because the aluminum racing radiator keeps the engine temp lower, it takes longer to get heat and it doesn't get as hot as it did with the stock radiator. Living in Florida I rarely use the heater, so having the engine run cooler on hot summer days was my priority with the new radiator. Speaking of which, you can see by the vehicle history that the car spent a few years in Atlanta and the rest of her life in Florida, so not exposed to road salt and the rust issues that often result. I had someone from this auction come by and take a look and ride yesterday. His comments were that the car runs strong, is fast, and that the transmission shifts very smoothly. I asked if the description on eBay is accurate and he agreed that it is, though noted that I didn't mention that the car has anti-lock brakes (ABS). He also said that you just don't find these cars in this good of shape anymore. If I have missed anything it is minor, such as a few of the plastic plugs that secure the interior trim are missing. It is a 20 year-old car with 150K+ miles so obviously it's not perfect. But I have done my best to get her in a condition that makes me confident that the next owner will be happy with their purchase, and I definitely want to maintain my reputation through my feedback rating. If there is anything in particular that is important to you that I haven't covered, feel free to ask and I will respond as quickly as I can. And if you have any other concerns or hesitation, and can't come by to see her in person, please just factor that into your bid price. Thanks! :-) On May-31-11 at 08:05:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes, this is a DSM (Diamond Star Motors) and similar to the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymouth Laser, though I believe they had different standard/option packages. Nope, I am not taking offers outside of this auction. I haven't advertised locally, and if I do I will refer to this auction to place a bid.
